Front Diff tools?
Does anyone know if there are any special tools necessary to get into the front differential? I'm gonna be having a guy help me with my transmission, and he doesn't want to start taking apart my transmission without knowing whether theres any specific things we might need. So anyone with knowledge on specific tools for that, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The only thing I can think of that is different than the normal subaru tools is a 35??mm socket for the nut on the pinion shaft.

define Subaru tools if you would. Is this referencing specific "Subaru" made tools? Sorry for my ignorance, but he was asking specifics. Like he said often there are specific tools for specific types of transmissions. Sorry if this is confusing. Thank you for your response though.

By "normal subaru tools" I meant 10,12,14,17 and 19mm sockets and wrenches. About 98% of your SVX can be taken apart with those 5 sizes.

There is a front diff specialty tool you *should* get. That is for the side plates to be loosened and tightened but there are methods you can use to get around having to buy one...

I am very interested in finding out how to get around it then if at all possible. If not, then what is the specialty tool? Because I may need to purchase it. I don't know how expensive that will be, Anyone know where to find em? Thanks again, as usual this forum is filled with lovely advice. You all certainly have helped me in the past, and taught me some patience.

There are notches and grooves in the sideplates. You can stick things like screwdrivers and punches in the grooves for leverage. Or use Channel locks or a larger pin spanner wrench.
