man, my doors won't lock anymore!
ok, here's the skinny: My svx, when i first got it, had the stock security system put in, but i never got the remotes for it. So i just would leave the security off, and got into the practice of holding the door latch out as i shut the door to leave the doors locked.
today when i got to work, i parked and went to lock the doors, and noticed the locks didn't go all the way in, there was something resisting. And when i went to shut the door...they wouldn't lock?!? Not even using the key. Neither side locked. Im guessing (and hoping) this is just a problem of a busted fuse that needs replacing. Anyone got any idea how to fix? |

Sounds more like a mechanical problem than an electrical one to me:
If you normally lock it manually, then it probably isn't a case of the motor stopping in the wrong position and jamming the mechanism. You're going to have to open up the door and inspect the lock. Fortunately it's not that difficult to do: To take the door panel off, remove the 2 screws from the front edge, 2 from under the felt in the armrest, and one from under the inner door handle flap. Then grab hold of the bottom of the inside door panel, pull it out and then lift it upwards. Unplug the wires from it. Then peel back the polythene and you can see the lock and all its linkages. To remove the linkages, rotate the coloured plastic clips. Then undo the screws and bolts holding the lock in place, unplug the wires and take the lock out for examination. |

You may have 3 screws under the felt.
