Bye, bye, my love

This morning I t-boned a F-150 that was turning left into a Sherman Williams. The mexican driving did not look and crossed over into my lane, the third lane, and I collided with him 3 seconds after seeing him enter my lane. I was going about 30-35mph in my lane and was able to reduce the speed down so that my airbags would not deploy.

There was no traffic in my lane but the two lanes to my left were experiencing rush hour gridlock. The lane next to mine had a bus in it, so I could not see the F-150 or the accident would have been avoided. Of course if the mexican LOOKED or CREEPED over the two lanes to my left before entering my lane, he would have saw me coming and my svx would not be sent to the scrap yard.

I am 99% sure his insurance will total loss my svx assuming insurance coverage is valid. His card was expired.

The officer that responded to the call put 100% fault on the mexican. There was a jogger and a few firestone employees that witnessed the accident.

I understand that hsit happens. Accidents happen. Most of the time, although I am angry, I shrug it off. In this instance, I had a hard time stifling my rage as every part of my being wanted to bloody his face.

This guy just totalled my car. He was not apologetic and didn't seem to care. It was as if nothing happened. He was complaining about the wait for the police and kept saying 'call his insurance' and 'need to go to work'. My svx was not driveable and would not start. With the lack of a running engine along with no power steering, it was difficult to move my car out of the road. They did not lift a finger to help move my car out of traffic. Two guys from firestone came out to help me push the car out of the way. (I sent those firestone guys some pizzas for lunch).

I left multiple messages with his insurance company today, no response.

I can only hope that his insurance will fix my svx. I don't want the money, I want it fixed. I don't want a $5k (estimate for repairs) check, I want it fixed. I drove to PA to pick up the car from Mike's dealership in 2003. I had 90k on the clock and the car needed nothing.

Guess we will see what they do.

Re: Bye, bye, my love

I've come to the conclusion that since insurance companies always want to half ass it when it comes to 'totaling' the car out instead of repairing it that if I ever find myself in a situation similar to this in the future I will not pass go or be bullied or low balled by the insurance companies as if it is were fault and that KBB is the gold set record of car value... regardless of how much money and love we ultimately pour into our loved possessions. If said insurance company refuses to repair any/all damage accordingly, stating it as a total loss and opt to give me the '****' KBB value, I'll simply take both the insurance company and 'wrecker' to court to ensure I'm compensated accordingly.

Sorry to hear about your accident though. Good to hear you are safe.

Noir, I am so sorry!
As I get older I have much less patience.
I just found out that SOMEONE has scraped Christine, in front of and behind the left rear wheel opening.
She had a new paint job,
no one confesses to the damage,
an easy fix,
but I am still pissed!

With a little more damage, guess who is in
"general population".

Yeah, i have less patience. i won't take a number and wait for restaurants. if there's a wait, i go somewhere else.

i do drive slower nowadays. the speed i was going was 5mph slower than the limit on that particular road. Max I go is 10mph over the posted limit in the city.

what sucks is that i can't buy another car right away. i got pre-approved by a bank for a home loan for the lowest possible interest and they said that until the deal is done, i shouldn't buy a car via credit. i could pay cash, but then i'd be dipping into my house money.

very annoying. i am rolling around in a civic i bought from my cousin a month ago. it totally sucks driving the civic.

someone needs to post up my old honda animated gif.

on another note, if i was riding my suzuki this morning, i'd jump the curb, kick the stand or lay the bike down, and beaten the dude senseless with my helmet......or i'd be like those little bugs hitting your windshield on the highway...i dunno.

This sucks. Yours was a very nice car! I fondly remember staying up all night cleaning it before you came to buy it.

I hate that Harry, but since it was his fault, I believe you can demand your car be fixed.....got some pics of the damage?

Yeah i am going to try to strongarm the insurance into fixing it. If not you or solar might want to tackle a new project. I will take pics and email you guys the link.

It is totally repairable if you have the skills. i know it will be easy for you huck. I will even sell whoever wants it the parts car that has 90% of the parts needed to complete the job.

I had a adjuster for another insurance company throw me some numbers and he said it will take $5k for a body shop to fix.

If someone wants to tackle it i will leave the rims, sterbo, and koni/ground controls on it for them to enjoy.
