I Got It! :d

1992 black LSL
130,000 miles
new tranny, new bearings

ITS INCREDIBLE!

Only $3600 dollars! All records (a whole folder full, oil was changed every 3-5000 miles, EVERY thing that is serviceable has been), owned by a retired woman, not beat on at all.

few problems, but oh well. MAN, 70-100 is INCREDIBLE! hehe. Not that I'll be speeding that often but ya know you have to test to make sure everything is going good. Hehe. There's a weird 'rattle' in the front suspension somewhere when you're driving on uneven road, when you put on the brakes it dissapears. I need to do the o-ring fix on the PS system. The sunroof sticks a little bit. I need to change the oil to synthetic. Need to condition the leather. and there's a tad of condensation in the left taillight. OTHER THAN THAT ITS GREAT!

This is the most incredible car I've ever driven, and its MINE! On the way home I pulled into a gas station with a bunch of lowrider trucks and all of them stared trying to figure out wtf the car was. hehehe.

Later.

there was a post in one of the technical q/a forums about rattling like that. It was caused by loose break pads, I have it from my front dirvers side. If I had know about that sooner I would still have my heat shielding, I removed 90% of it before I realized that wasnt the problem. Anyway, quick fix, get new break pads. If I were you and if I had some extra money saved up I'd jump on those dimple drilled slotted rotors from raceconcepts.net, theres a post about a good price in the mods forum. Original discounted price was 125.00 a pair front and rear. the new discount price is 160.00 not as good but still a heck of a deal. I took a look at some today that Earl Steele brought to the meet-up in Issaquah, they are very nice. And as an added bonus He cleaned up my headlights, I realized that I have really bright headlights on the way home, and I can now tell the difference when I turn my fog lights on, That Eagle One scratch remover is very nice.

oh yeah, the tail light condensation is a very common problem, if you do a search for it there are multiple ways to remove it at no cost. And the sunroof, there is a plastic cap in the roof around the light somewhere if you pop it off there is a clutch nut for the sunroof, try tightening it and see if that helps you with the sunroof problem, that and cleaning the tracks, lubing it up should fix the problem, and as long as you have basic tools that will also be a no cost solution. You can't beat free.

another possible rattle idea

When Chris Debban put on my new Raceconcepts.com rotors and new pads, I told him about my rattle as well. It turned out to be a caliper bushing. So, if its not a brake pad shim, check the caliper bushing. Mine rattled me to craziness for two years before it was found. And all this time I thought it was suspension.

With regards to the rattling, check the brake pads to see if there are shims on it.

If there isn't, get some anti-squeal gel on the back of the pads. It might be as simple as that.

Looks like you beat me to it, I was looking at a car with those specs. I also found a blue LSi in florida and 2 others beat me to that one too. I finally found another black LSL with 80,000 on it, and a perfect carfax. From southern Ca!!! I can't wait to get tags on it.

Congrats, cash! I'm glad you love your car - although it's really not all that surprising.

As for switching to synthetic, I'll relate my experience. I only fill my car with Mobil 1, and have now for a couple of years. The first thing you'll notice is way more seepage through the seals. Mine leaked the most through the front crank seal. That was sort of a pain to replace, but also a great deal of fun.

Someone wnat to go into more detail about this 'brake rattling' thing? It rattles really noisely unless I have my brakes on, then its quiet again. Is it a caliper 'bushing' (calipers have bushings?!) or a shim (where?)???

Also...eh... how hte hell do you turn on the dome light at night?

look up, near the sunroof open/close button, the row of buttons contains "door, room, spot" etc. press the room button, if you want the dome light to come on when your door is open, press door.

When the brakes were rattling on my reatta, I changed the pads, then the rotors and then (when that failed) finally I just put new calipers on... the problem was gone. So all I can figure is that the calipers are warped or something. From what I hear the brakes on these things get pretty hot. I still haven't even DRIVEN my svx so I don't know if it is somthing specific.
