So Ron. Does this mean you are coming to the autocross on Sunday? I hope so. Did you go to the Mercedes site and find the directions to the James Wood High School? It is actually quite easy to find. And once you get in the area, everyone knows where the high school is located. Get there early - you can help me change tires!

I will send you an e-mail with my cell phone number and home phone. We probably should do a little coordination this week. And you "MAY " get lost enroute too

Looking forward to Sunday! I have a helmet for you!

Mr. Pockets,
Appreciate it. Sometimes I don't know when to stop typing - this car is fun!

BTW, the boys in the Mustangs, Firebirds and BMW's hate to see it rain too!!! We run rain or shine, unless there is thunder-bumbers.

The only reason I haven't done it, is because they're all run on Sundays and I don't get out of church in time to make registration.

As a veteran autocrosser, I'm guessing you know the SCCA rules well enough to restrict your mods so that you'll be able to stay in stock category, where a win every once a while is a definate possibility (can you say "RAIN"?), but even if you go to street prepared you'll have more fun than one person is meant to have, which I always thought was the 'hidden secret' to a 'good time' (sic).

AUTOCROSSERS GO IN FAST AND COME OUT HARD!

(I didn't say that! )
Steve,
I thought it was "slow in, fast out"
Anyway....... You hit the nail on the head. Fun! And it is always good to have a really good group of guys (and quite a few gals too) to share an interest. Kinda like the SVX club. I have to tell you that I was told I was running a "sewing machine" for a while - until I changed out my exhaust. Now even the WRX's like it. Fast cars, and they stick like glue. Can't wait until the STi comes out.
Sounds like you have had a lot of fun over the years.

Actually, the fellow had not run many autocrosses before. But then again when one uses the "indexing" to match up classes, any 911 guy will have to be on his toes........ We do have a few to show up on occasion.

How does it handle @ summit point? I'm going to be hitting limerock this November and probably Pocono and Nazareth next year as well.

Mike,
You're welcome. I use to run the "Rs" until they were hard to get. I now run the Kumho v700 VictoRacer. Pretty pleased with them, and they are cheaper than the "Rs".
Summit is a blast! Again, my abilities don't match the car's capabilities, but it sure is fun. As you may know, Summit is a two mile course with ten turns with a 1/2 mile straight. The Subie hits about 115 - 120 MPH at the end of the straight before a 50 MPH hairpin turn (that's Turn one). Never had a problem with brakes either. And handles very well.

Oh yeah we have a ball in NY/NJ autoxing. Check out http://isuzu-suvs.com/autox for details.

We get over 20+ subies out at our auto-xs @ giants stadium. Then we all hang and BBQ after the events. Usually another 20 or so subies show up just to BBQ with us!

I use the victoracers too. Nice tires. Thinking of getting Proxie RA1s or Victoracers for next year.

Mike,
Neat site. And I thought it was going to be all SUV's to start with! Quite an asortment of subjects there. Liked your XT-6. Almost bought one about a month ago, but the dealer wanted about $4K for an '88, but it only had 66K miles on it...........

BTW, did you know that four mounted racing tires fit in the back seat of the SVX (with the rear seat back lowered, of course). Also, have you used the technique of lifting off of the gas (or slightly braking in combination) going into a turn at autocross to get the car pointed in the right direction and then get "back on the gas" and let it pull you through the turn? Works equally well with a FWD car (my old wrecked '94 SVX was FWD).

The red XT6 is actually being Raffled off as we speak so that I can buy my SVX.

http://isuzu-suvs.com/xt6raffle

My grey XT6 was an AT and I loved that for auto-x more than the 5MT. Finally someone understands how to drive an AT Subie @ an Auto-x! I think I'm gonna like this group.

Hmm I was worried about the race tires fitting in the back seat, I guess it's pretty big back there.

If you haven't checked out the http://isuzu-suvs.com/events page there are tons of subaru and car stuff there too!

Before yesterday's event I drove my buddy's outback wagon @ 2 events. Loved that. Felt sooo much better to be auto-xing in an AT AWD again. I pulled the same times in that as in my buddy's 5MT RS!

Yes, Harry, if my pulse is still working, I plan to mosey over to Winchester. I'll help with the tires, but my specialty is with the donut variety. What time do the festivities begin? I got directions "kinda" off Yahoo maps. Is the school in the N,S,E,or W quadrant of Winchester? Is that a WW1 or WWII helmet?

Ron.

Now now... be nice. This quartermile junkie has a shelf of trophies behind his SVX and a reputation that causes large amounts of groaning when I drive through the gates at an event. For those who care: I sit 5th overall in import class and I am 1st in points for the club I run in that we sit in second place overall. Next year will be the start on my road racing experience (legal) as well as some rally.

I wish you luck on your autocross adventures, but dont call my sport garbage .

(had to pipe in)

Ronnie,
Glad to hear you'll be present. I usually arrive about 7:30 AM (leaving here at 6:30 AM) to head to Winchester. We (my sons and I) get there early to help set things up. Tents, timing equipment, etc. Sometimes we have to figure out how to set the course up to avoid cars left in the parking lot. At times, a challenge. But it is a huge lot. Obviously, you don't need to get there early. We usually have three pratice runs in the morning and then the best of three in the afternoon. We have started limiting the event to 50 cars now. More than that and it makes for a very long day.
Looking for you and Olu too.
Harry
