From the amount of clips I've lost I'm really considering a different way to fasten that cover down! Saw some people use bolts.

I recently lost mine. I went into a major hardware store and bought some more. The tops were a little big and they were a tight fit, but they'll do.

I'm thinking the reason they fall out is that the grommets that the clips hold on to get old/crack/dry and the clips have less to hold on to. I'm thinking of getting some grommets along with the clips next time I lose one.

Anyone else care to voice their opinions?

If you can find the part number for the grommet, post it please. I've tried to find the grommet without any luck.

One of these days I'll go to the hardware store and find one.

Its not so much they fall out, its more like random mechanics taking apart things, and forgettting to put them back!

That includes me, though I think I try a bit harder to make sure that doesnt happen!

A testament to that fact is a missing Bolt on the cat heat shield and a tranny mount, both of which are too rusted out to hold a bolt tightly

No wonder I couldn't find them. I was looking at the diagram with the numbers cut off on the right side instead of the parts list.

Thanks

Doug

My fix

I have found that those plastic grommets for putting your tags on work nicely. They are cheap and easy to find at auto parts stores.
