I'm an Australian, but not in Australia. Does that count?

[But I think Kienan is trying to find out how many members are in Australia.]

My member's "down under." Does that count.

(You should have rephrased before I read your post, Joe)

Joe your message is quite timely as I had in mind posting a wake up call as you have done. Should all Australian members be asked to be upstanding ? Just to be counted of course!

James used to keep things alive down here but he appears to have gone North. The main site appears to have become the universal attraction.

Trevor,

*reaches from deathbed* Who's there.....ahh....fellow SVX'ers! *makes a miraculous recovery*

I am still around just work has been so busy in the past 2 weeks that I have barely had a chance to do anything!!

Missed out on a 1992 SVX (the charcoal grey like Kienan's) since the ^%$^%$^$ then said that he was offered $15,000 as a trade in but would want more "for the incovenience of a private sale" and that he would not take into account non function drivers side switch for the passenger window, air con not working (he said jusr needs a regass....150,000km on the car..I suspected was the compresser - it was $1000!) and rego up in a month (another $1000).

I think I can say "timewaster!!!"

A few more have turned up (not for sale but people driving them) but they are not of our ilk .."a club? Err...no thanks".

heathens!!!

James

A lively lot

Good to hear from youse guys.

At least it is good news to hear James has been trying to actually buy an SVX, rather than hunt 'em and sticker 'em.!!

And Harvey watchin the fort. Good on yer. What do you think of the new Duke, Harvey? Looks kinda cute and useful, doesn't it?

Trevor, Harvey's lads are saving their energy for the next time they meet the All Blacks. Are they wastin their time, you reckon?

Hi Joe, James knows better than to get a SVX earlier than a 95, he deserves the best.

As Trevor knows there are no better games played, than the All Blacks verses the Wallabies. It's been a great event over the years, never fails to be a exciting, close match. In the next. few weeks South Africa, New Zealand and Australia compete the Tri-Nations Cup. We love our Rugby. .

Talk about the GP. Ducati Isn't it typical of Ducati to ignore the trend of multi cylinder high rev hp. and build something completly different.

A lateral extension of the World Super Bike design that has been so successful over the last 8 or 9 years.
A 90deg. V4 Desmo with two cylinders firing together, to give a big bang effect, that the two stroke bikes used to obtain good traction. With about 220 hp and a torque curve that extends over 6000 revs. It should be a steam train.

The Honda will have more hp. at higher revs and the rest of the Japos will follow Honda, but as Honda found, but didn't learn from it, with the oval cylinder 8 piston V4. High hp at high rpm, doesn't make a ride able bike.

Ducati is run by a lot of bike riders, so they usually build a complete package that is very ride able.

Time will tell next year, with Troy Bayliss on the bike, I'll go with the under dog to win.

Harvey.

Yes Harvey we must now wait for the tri-nations but it was hardly a "thrashing" and the ref. made sure he was part of the action to the detriment of all others on the field. In many ways it was a bit of lottery. However you still hold the silver wear and congratulations.

I agree with what you say regarding narrow power bands and designers who know nothing about riding/driving. The early BRM was a classic example. Our down under boys Jack and Bruce were examples of the opposite school and designed from the cockpit winning on shoe string budgets.

Cheers. Trevor.

It's not the winning that makes the game, It's the way it's played. The previous game in the rain was a blinder even though we went down.

The V16 BRM, was designed to be supercharged, but the regulations changed before it was finished, so it was run as Natural Aspirated, High revs but no torque.

What about the V8 Moto Guzzi, another example of a fabulous motor built without regard for the machine it was to be put in.

That is what I like about the SVX, Designed as a complete unit, in the mould of a high speed touring car.

Harvey.

Actually, down, but not out. We get arrested for things like that over 'ere, despite the labels everywhere encouraging us to "void where prohibited."

Mods,

Do we all give thanks that we have a moderate moderator? But I have an idea that James should be looking after us and his tender age must be taken into account by all of us upstanding lowdowners!

As ever, Trevor.
