DD Research
Hey guys,
In near future (3 months) I am planning on acquiring another car for DD (Daily Driving) purposes. I am thinking $3-5k range, something AWD and reliable... Was wondering if you guys have any suggestions so that I can start researching this matter. Thank you in advance, -Sov13t. |

Re: DD Research
You kinda left this one wide open!
Impreza? Legacy? Forester? That's what I'd choose from if I was digging for a DD.

Re: DD Research
Yeah, for a daily driver, I'd go with a 2.2 Legacy or Impreza, if you care about fuel economy (I get like 18 out of my SVX, my Legacy got 25 before the HG started leaking...) The 1.8 Imprezas get decent mileage if you get it with a manual, my wife had a 2WD one that was automatic and it was pretty gutless, and it didn't get that great of mileage (I think the best she ever got was like 26ish on the highway)
If you don't care about fuel economy, I'd go with the SVX lol... For the 3k-5k range, I'd go with a late 90s-early 00s Outback, although you could also go for a RAV4 (A bit on the funky lookin side, but they get really good mileage) or a Previa S/C all-trac (19-24MPG and supercharged!)

Re: DD Research
screw these losers!
Im back to my roots. Find a 199o-1999 eclipse GSX and do regular maintenance to it (plugs, wires. timing belt if needed) and keep it stock. More power than the SVX and reliability!

Re: DD Research
^^ That's one of those cars with the kooky "sideways" engines, innit? Weird...
I guess I took this to be for an angle on a car that's a little bit more useful than the SVX. Cripes, you can't fit anything in the trunk!

I guess that's why the SVX never caught on with the mob...minimal trunk body capacity.

Re: DD Research
Kirill,
I would suggest a stock Legacy sedan SUS or GT, as long as regular maintenance has been done (including head gaskets) or go with an earlier Legacy with a 2.2. IMO, the Impreza is cramped and tinny for a daily driver when compared to an SVX. You can get a Legacy reasonably priced and well-optioned within that price range. 01 LGT LTD: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...eadExists=true

Re: DD Research
I did kinda leave this one pretty obvious, it seems like Legacy or Outbacks are pretty much the choice. I was thinking a wagon rather than a sedan, I believe it would be versatile enough for any task thrown at it. I am just not as knowledgeable on the differences in models and years and what not, and especially what is the proper price for them.

Re: DD Research
Mid to late 90's BMW 3 series? That'd be my preference at least.
