For anyone dealing with low connectivity WIFI

I wanted to go ahead and pass this one to anyone who was dealing with low signal in their homes. My house is not big but with my door closed or not completely open I would constantly have my signal jump from good to low or even worse drop signal. I prefer my 50ft cord but after numerous complaints and a very well hinted Christmas present last year I had to use wireless.

Following this template Print the picture at the bottom.

I found a nice Youtube video for easy instructions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2u_ITj4G2k
I suggest using a Glue stick makes it easier.
Here are my results (yes I know its upside down now its 3 in the morning let it go). Also pics are too large to view here I figured just click the link =D

Re: For anyone dealing with low connectivity WIFI

There is always the Cantenna.

You can make your own...

Or if you are lazy, you can buy one.

Innovative, I guess.

A better way might be to flash the router with open source software like <DD-WRT> which allows you to bump the signal level up in a more uh, scientific level.

It's very easy... check it out!

I planned on doing that, and using the Tomato freeware, but since the main desktop out there is FUBAR atm, I did not want to flash it using Wifi connection . I thought this might help someone not tech savvy as it is very simple.

As far as the Cantana I didnt have those supplies at about 1AM this morning

This is very scientific, using a parabola signal is bounced and projected in a direction allowing better signal

If you had an antenna you could project it or make the suggest cantenna. Signal hasnt dropped all day and I plan on using that Freeware firmware soon =D

Re: For anyone dealing with low connectivity WIFI

I got the +12dBi antenna kit for my router ($10 on sale at RadioShack), plus I'm using the Tomato firmware, I have NO connectivity problems at my house. Only problem with boosting the signal, is you open it up to your neighbors being able to borrow your connection, so make sure you use WPA encryption, and set the network name to something that's not generic, like netgear, cuz WPA can be cracked if the network name is common. (Or if it's a dictionary word really)

Thanks, but I've got airport cards in all of the computers in the house already. It looks like the cantenna requires that you have an antenna coming out of the router, which, unfortunately, the airport base station doesn't have.
