Is this a JDM one???

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Subaru-SVX-19...QQcmdZViewItem

I didn't think the Aust spec ones ever had the suede/cloth interior? Nor the radio controls on teh buttons?

Also has a 180km/h speedo?

Wonder if it's a private import?

Matt

Closer inspection...it's got to be. No sunroof or rear spoiler, coupled with the things I mentioned above.

Wonder what he wants for it. I should have used this one for my rally car.

That steering wheel screams JDM.

JDM Via NZ.

Yes it would have most likely come from New Zealand. They could import them there, as the SVX wasn't. We can only import cuts.

Tony, not legally. As a personal import sure, but you'd have to own it over there for 12 months.

Do you mean if I buy it in NZ and keep it there for 12 months then I could bring it in?

Looks exactly like my JDM car except for the steering wheel. Mine has audio/radio controls.

Trevor, this hardly looks EXACTLY like yours, could it?

I mean it is a bit of a curate's egg, some strange features. I reckon it is JDM OK.

However....

What is that fungus on the dashboard? If it's velcro, he must have the biggest speed detector known to man.

Also, JDMs normally have an Alcyone hood ornament. This one has the Subaru oval.

Last, but not least, this car is Claret. Note: Claret. Not Claret and Black. No car came from the factory Claret all over. So it must be a respray.

Joe

The seats and steering wheel are the same as my '92 SVX-LS without the touring package. It has no sunroof or rear wing and manual seats.

I'd be interested to know how it's been registered.

Victoria used to have some pretty lax laws about registering imports which have been tightened up of late.

Would be a bugger if you bought it as a road car, and then it turns out it's here illegally and is only worth the value of its parts.

I spoke to the owner via SMS...he's a member of the thin blue line which I thought was interesting...and is the reason he's selling??

Anyway, he said it's been "legitimately" imported from Japan. He has all the "appropriate" papers and approvals.

In the same breadth though he said that if you're registering it in QLD or VIC, you'll be fine?? The other states will have "hassles".

I quizzed him further but he wasn't playing the game.

His wants at least $11k for it. I politely pointed out that the Ebay link doesn't have a reserve set so he said he'd change it today.

$11k...that's probably a reasonable price, but I've seen what they go for in Japan, and I don't think he'd have had $5k-$10k of taxes, duties etc to get it here...he might have I suppose.
