Smile It still gets the looks...

I took the SVX out of the garage for the first time since October of last year. I need to pull the cylinder head out of the MR2, so the SVX had to be charged and brought out. It started immediately and, after filling the tires, I took it on a couple errands.

This car still gets the looks. I stopped at Wendy's to pick up some lunch and the drive-through guy stuck his head out and looked up and down the car. Other drivers, in 4-way stops, forget to go becuse they're distracted. Hell, I had just backed the car out into the driveway and somebody stopped on my street, staring.

It sure is pretty. And it's nice to be behind the wheel again.

What a car.

I always drive with my windows cracked so i can hear other peoples comments. Its awesome when you see people walking in the street...you drive past them and look in the rear view and see that they turned back to see your car. My car alwayssssss gets commented on whenever i stop at the shell station to get gas.

What a car.
Pretty is an understatement. The design of these cars is simply amazing!

Glad to hear you're behind the wheel of an SVX again Pockets. I love driving mine to and from work even if I just have 1st and 3rd gear!

Every time I drive one, which is almost every day, I still can't believe how the car drives. It gets the looks and always starts conversations.

Glad to hear you are behind the wheel again.

First comment

The first comment I heard about my car while driving it was in front of Home Depot. It was the freakin hot dog guy, he spots my car watches me drive by and I hear through the open sunroof, "What kind of car is that? Jeez it's ugly."
I cowered and drove my car home, my pride wounded. Since then people have liked it, but what a first day.

I work an hour away from home and use a lot of gas so I always drive between 55 and 60 on the highway to conserve. When I do take my X out, out of habit, I do between 55 and 60 in it as well so I get passed a lot and always see people checking it out as they pass me. Makes me wonder how many have called the local Subaru dealer to find out if they have any SVX's in stock.

Everyone around here (Lubbock) seems to care only about their trucks... it's sad .

It does get some looks on campus though.

just tonight, I was out driving in the SVX with my friends cousin who is 15..he first mentioned the strange car when he saw it, and even more so once he was in..pointing out the odd windows and the gadgets in the dash (hvac controls)..once underway he praised the power buildup..getting some hype from him I decided to roll onto a nice backroad we have here, they are plentiful here and proceeded to haul around some corners..it was raining tonight..well after the first corner he was grinning ear to ear..his dad btw drives a Z28..and he drives fast according to his son..lol maybe the SVX has won over a new upcoming fan..he couldnt believe the car was a 92

I was having lunch at Wendy's a couple of weeks ago and watched a guy who'd been heading toward the door take a detour across the parking lot to go check out my SVX. Turned out he was with a couple of guys I know (who'd never seen my car), so I had to speak-up when they finally entered.

"Hey Jim, saw y'all checkin' out my car..."

"What is it? What's with the windows? All-wheel drive?"

They seemed most impressed by the model year. "Really? Looks new."
