Rear Wheel Bearings
I'm getting a lot of noise from the back of my car, I think the noise is a result of the rear wheel bearings. Does any one know what the cost of fixing that is? and where can I buy the parts? Thanks

go to subaruparts.com and you can get a great price on the bearings. i think they also have a 800 number listed on the site.

weak point
Apparently the rear wheel bearings are a design weak point. The local dealer will have them in stock because they do them so often. I had one done last year, it failed again within a year therefore it was under warranty. It failed again within a year and they replaced it again. Eventually you find one that doesn't fail, or at least waits until the year warranty is up.

Dealer cost?
How much did the dealer charge you to replace your rear wheel bearings?

I've never had it done to my '96 LSi but from what I've read here and in the old Yahoo group it should cost no more than about $250.00 per side (parts are about $75.00 and about 2 hours worth of labor per side). Anymore is just pure 'rip-off' profit for the dealer. Again, this is what I've gleened from this and the old Yahoo site. EddyCat used to say that if they want to charge you more tell them to 'show you the flat rate manual that came from'. Hope this helps you out. Oh, not to sound uppity or anything but the search engine on this site works real well

1.8 hours for one brg. and 3.1 hours for both (x hourly labor rate.)
