Adobe Premiere..... Good Video editing Program??

I have been charged with putting together a video for a presentation... I need to know if Adobe Premiere 6.0 is a good editing program... Looks like it... Just got it from my friend a few days ago and am in the process of playing with it right now... Is there anyone that can tell me about thier experiences with it???

Thanks heaps!!! I have about 2 months to put together about an hour and a half of video and audio... I want it to be good because there will be more than 300 people at this Gathering...

It is very much the 'Pro' editing software, very powerful but not for the inexperienced.

If you are new to this, do some editing with Movie Maker as it is far simpler, yet capable of some good results. The general rule seems to be to only move up to Premiere when Movie Maker can no longer satisfy your desires.

I like premire. I've used it and it does a good job. Its also relatively easy to use, you just have to learn your way around it.

Thanks for both of your input... I have been playing with it for the last hour or so and am learning my way around it pretty quickly... I was in a Media Class when I was in High School in Australia... But we used Mac's... I was really good at using them, but we use PC's in the Marines.... Oh well... I think I am slowly getting a hang of everything on it... I may have to post some questions if I get stuck... Thanks for your help again!!!

I used premeire alot and have taken many computer art/video editing classes. Its not much for the inexperienced but if you catch onto things fast then you will have no problem with anice how to manual.

I don't think you can. WMA (Winblows Media Audio) file is in M$'s own format. Although they are smaller (and better IMO), they are limited.

Premiere is good. I like it/use it often

get a simple program such as Soundedit 16 and just convert it over, it will save space and allow you to insert cues later if needed(youll get to that )

If you have any friend's with a more recent mac, it's EXTREMELY nice. You can put together a professional looking vid in iMovie in literally no time. It's so painless it's not even funny. Final Cut Pro is also pretty incredible, but it's learning curve is kinda steep....but that's what hollywood uses quite often.

FCP is pretty decent. I have a friend that use that. I looked at it a while back. It's not too bad. But then again, I am easy to learn.

Wanna try something hard to learn? Softimage. That one confusing.

Premiere is a good tool but beware bugs. We use it at my school and 6 and 6.5 are both ridden with bugs and glitches that will really get on your nerves if you find them and Adobe tends to treat them with expensive upgrades to the next version. That however is an option me or my school do not have. Damn Adobe for making Premiere 7 for Windows XP only. 2000 rocks.
