Need a police car(s)

As I mentioned here some friends and I hope to be making a movie this summer.

I'm in the process of getting contacts on some things we will need for the filming.

Today I'm asking if anyone has access to a police car or two.

I've asked in another thread if anyone has some parts such as light bars we can borrow to make our own, but of course it would be much easier and more realistic to just have a real police cruiser.

I won't go into all the details here since this is probably a pretty slim chance, but if someone actually can help we can discuss the issues.

I could see an SVX police car in a futuristic movie made in the late 80's up to the early 90's. Kinda like how they used Ford Taurus's as police cruisers in Robocop, right when Taurus's came out. Sure, those cars were already appearing on roads, but not as police cars, those were still boxy old Caprices and the like. So flat black Taurus's appeared to be slightly in the future.

Actually, I think the SVX could still pass as a future cop car if it was all done up like in the picture. Not the look I'm going for though with this particular venture.

(I'm thinking of using the SVX as one of the cars in the driveway of this wealthy character's nice house)

I'll be seeing a lot of cops this weekend, I'll ask if anyone feels like being helpful. I'm sure I can find a lightbar, at least. If you're free Saturday, volunteering as a patient/rioter at their youth drill would make them feel more generous with their cars. Or you could bargin with free filming of next year's drill in exchange for a car scene. If location and time are flexible, you can probably track them down at a boring stand-by (summer cadet training, various summer parades) and talk them into it.

What do you need the cop car to do? I don't imagine that they'd be willing to let anyone else actually drive the car. I guess you wouldn't settle for an ambulance, huh?

Ahhh someone with connections, I like it! Any help would be appreciated. May indeed be a good idea for us to ask around and see what the possibilities are.

Here's a quick rundown of the scenes we were thinking of needing cars/officers for. The subject matter may be controversial and affect how willing they'd be to help:

First scene, the two main characters are pulled off the road changing a flat tire (and dumping a body ). A police car pulls over behind them and the officer gets out to check on them. He acts suspicious, but is about to let them go when he notices blood from the body that has just been dumped. He pulls his gun but is shot dead by one of the main characters. This is the big scene we would really like to have a marked car for with uniformed officer, which would probably have to be one of our actors (could probably have a real officer drive the car, then switch to actor when he is out of the car). Kind of an intense scene though. This is where we may have to change the script and make it an undercover officer, which would be a little strange, but might have to do.

The other scene is an outside shot of a crime scene at a house. Would be nice to have a couple cars there (maybe even an ambulance) flashing their lights and uniformed officers walking around with the crime scene tape, etc. It is mostly just a quick establishing shot for the scene, all of the action in that scene happens inside the house with a detective investigating. Might be good to have a couple officers inside the house too, but not necessary probably since it would require more time or uniforms for our actors. This part might be easy enough to do since it wouldn't take too long or require much aside from parking a couple cars with lights on and walking around a few seconds. Would be a matter of coordinating that stuff though.

What's the youth drill this Saturday about? Sounds interesting.

Sorry for the long post everyone, I like discussing some of this in public in case it sparks some ideas from others.

A medic friend of mine likes acting and has all that cop gear and some training. He'd certainly be able to die convincingly, at least.

If you want to improvise cop uniforms (like for people in the background), I can get you the uniform shirts (and possibly a few belts) if you can find navy pants, black boots and white undershirts/t-shirts.

I might be able to get you an ambulance, but scheduling the time/ location might be a problem.

The disaster drill is for explorer scouts/cadets in the emergency services field, mostly from Washington. It's taking place at a boy scout camp north of Monroe, just up the road from the lake Roesiger park we stopped at for the fall colors tour. I'm not sure what the scenario will be since I wasn't involved in planning it this year, in the past we've had a riot and a plane crash. Here's last years website, the pictures might give you an idea of what I can find as far as equipment/people:

That all sounds great! Equipment possibilities and actors, can't ask for much more! Those drills look pretty fun, my wife had to do similar stuff when she took a first responder class a couple years ago. Can you get a hold of some of that blood and makeup that makes the wounds? We can probably buy that at a costume store too though. We'll have to have you on the set to tell us how to make the wounds realistic though! Every good movie needs technical advisors on the set.
