Re: SVX Rally Car - For Sale

The Nerumberg race you mention Subaru were 26th overall,
Other point of interest is there is not one EVO.

I don't hate WRX and STI, my issue was 10 to 20 years ago Subaru were kicking ass with there car technology now they don't.
And that's where you're misinformed and why you need to get into an STI and go for a drive. The new technology in these things is amazing and you cannot claim the new technology is no good based on random race results and a few magazine articles - can you list all the technology in these things?

If you really want to understand and feel it - borrow one from your mate at Subaru, bring it and the SVX to the track and you'll understand and then want to bring a lot of those STI systems to the SVX.

If you read any race car chassie design book they make the point that the closer you go to square with wheel base to being same width and length the more likly the car is to spin. Car becomes unstable.
As I've said before, you really need to ignore most books and magazines. It's far better to use your own experience driving short base vs longer base Subaru AWD's to get a proper understanding - preferrably with lap data.

My list shows the SVX wheelbase / track ratio is a little nasty compared to the modern day supercars, there's no "forgery" of the data like you suspect - look them all up yourself if you don't believe me. I can also say without a doubt, the longer wheelbase cars are harder to turn in and have a tendancy to understeer easier. I've owned the Liberty, Impreza, Outback and SVX... love them all but I call a spade a spade.

A super kart for example almost square and will do laps as quick as V8 supercars, extremely nimble and also all a little unstable. Adding wheel base increases stability but reduces turning ability - EXACT same again as ski's, snow boards, boats, yatch's etc. Ever been on a short 1 foot ski at the snow?! Extremely easy to turn but extremely unstable. You need to find the optimal setup for that car. With Subaru AWD - shorter is proven to be better over the last 20 year. There will be a case of to short is bad of course but you'd need to be making some major reductions to get there.

Re: SVX Rally Car - For Sale

Hey that's great news that you got it Tony. I've run out of money doing the resto on mine, and there are no more deals that can be cut with my wife since I already have my other track day car. Glad you managed a deal.
