Brian - It's got a sticker on it that says 091203 with a p/n of 20630pa011. Do you know where the serial would be? However, the sticker on the plastic wrap said 091208 vs the part's 091203?

It would be on the strut itself under the stamped part number if it was there.

These are the only two numbers on the strut, and there is no PN stamped on it. Just the top sticker with the PN and the 091203 below it.

LOL, as you well know, I have not drawn a SS check yet. I DO, however, receive a retired military check each month that I am very happy and proud to cash.

What have you done for your country lately?

The date on the sticker on the strut with the part number is the MFG date. My 97 has the same type stickers with mfg dates of 96 (diff mfg months for front and rear struts). AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME THAT THIS IS A PACKED DATE--particularly after I took these off to prove my point . The dates that Geoff and I are referring to are on the strut itself and not on the package.

The only things I find actually stamped in the metal on the struts are Subaru, Showa and Caution Do Not Heat, Do Not Open

(still haven't tasted any crow )

Paid your retirement and spent lots of taxpayers money today. $4500 while on a ski lift is a record for me when I'm 100 mile work.

Re: SVX Rear Strut - Dated 9/12/08 - 2008 looks like an SVX Part Stock-Up Year

If this is the case, the strut was built in 2003, not 2008, and was received in 2008. Either way, that would show that the strut isn't all that old. I'll keep everyone posted on how well they last. - Odd that the "pack" date would be PRECISELY 5 years from the "Production" Date though. That's the delta of the sticker on the strut to the one on the packing. Same day/month, different year.

You sure that's a 3 and not an 8? That could explain it...

Re: SVX Rear Strut - Dated 9/12/08 - 2008 looks like an SVX Part Stock-Up Year

So what was the verdict on this, are these OEM struts from 2003?

Geoff, do you happen to have a picture of the strut with the numbers on them like Ihopp77 posted?

My struts are shot, I need to replace them in the spring, so this would be good news.

I checked one of my failed new struts and the sticker also had part # 20360PA011LH. The number under it was 070220.
That does not appear to be a date.
