WTT Modified Transmission Resisitor for Stock Transmission Resistor

I have a Transmission Resistor that has been modified by SVXFiles that I need to replace with a stock one. The modified one provides slightly firmer shifts and is a nice easy/low cost upgrade to a stock transmission.

The reason I need a stock one is because I have a ECUTune TCU Chip installed and that is what they recommend. I am just looking for a straight up trade for one in good condition.

You still have this, and still want to trade?

Re: WTT Modified Transmission Resisitor for Stock Transmission Resistor

Can anyone tell me how driving feels, and what effects this modified resistors has?
I know the resistor is there to lower line pressure, what about the modified one?
And last question is the modified one like unplugging the resistor?

Re: WTT Modified Transmission Resisitor for Stock Transmission Resistor

From SVXFiles Web Page:

"Custom Dropping Resistor Mod
The Solenoid A (dropping) resistor controls the line pressure in the transmission. By adjusting the resistance, we can "firm up" your shifts."
http://www.svxfiles.com/custom.html#resistor

From my experience, the resistor does not make a dramatic difference. It is just a subtle change in how it shifts. A very low cost, and very easy improvement that you can do to improve the stock set up.

The ECUTune TCU unit makes a bigger impact, but costs more and and is more difficult to install. Each one is better than a stock set up.

very interesting thanks. Any idea how to tell if you have a socketed TCU? opening it up to tell is fine.

You don't have one. None of our cars came with them, just a space on the circuit board to accept one. But if you know somebody good at electronics they can solder a socket onto your existing board.

I found it easier to buy a complete TCU with it already installed. I'm a wuss, I didn't want take a chance on messing it up.

lol yes I understand that. Shelling out more money to fix a mistake hurts alot more then just paying for a different tcu.
I know how to solder and add to a circuit board not sure if I would want to though.

I agree with you Sean!
The ECUTune is a much better way to go!
I have two of his TCUs, and one of his valve bodys!
They REALLY transform the transmission operation!

But for people on a budget, the modified resistor does help.
Right now I am out of cores, so untill I get some, you would have to ship me your core for it to happen.
Tom
