Groaning in AWD mode
I bought my SVX with the FWD fuse in place. As an experiment I pulled it to make sure all is well. I get a groaning from the rear while turning. This smells like Torque bind. However it doesn't feel the same as what happened with my Leggy when it caught that bug. The Leggy just felt like the E-brake was on in a tight turn. This feels like the clutches in the rear diff are sticky.
DEFINATELTY coming from the rear of the car. Wouldn't the LSD act the same wether power was applied or not? P.S. According to my tape measure the circumference of all 4 tires are within 3/4 inch. I know they're supposed to be within a quarter inch, but this was an experiment, a 6mi round trip.

Sounds like binding to me. I'm having the exact same issue right now, and When I put it in fwd mode, it goes away. The limited slip in the rear should act the same and make noise when it is in FWD too if that is the problem. I'd say do the normal TPS checks before going down the duty solenoid C replacement road.

it really could be number of things, the binding I experienced was never audible,
Does it sound like it is coming from the rear of the car, or the center? If its in the rear, I would pull the cover off the rear diff and check for shredded teeth. -Patrick

Paul, the reason we had the FWD fuse in place is due to the fact that the rear tires do not match the fronts, and running it in AWD like this WILL cause Torque bind, and lead to the demise of the tranny.....put it back in untill you get a matched set of tires on it. (after you get the alignment straightened out)

Thanks y'all. Like I said, this was just an experiment to make sure all was well in the AWD system.
I have a control arm from a local JY (that poor SVX looked like it'd been abused it's whole life) Hopefuly I'll get it installed this week, or weekend. I also snagged a few trim bits, and a spare wheel/tire. Total out the door; $100.
