Windshield repair?
Hi guys just a question. I was at Apple Autoglass today to get a new windshield in the 97 Legacy. Asked the guy the cost of replacing the windshield on the SVX. He couldn't believe it but it came out to $3,550.00. My question is, I have a few very small chips from stones on the windshield. He said it would be $75 for the first and $25 for each one thereafter. There appear to be a total of three. Considering the expense of replacing the glass, it makes sense to me to get this work done if it stops the window from eventually cracking. Your thoughts???

I've heard that there's an aftermarket 'screen for the SVX. Can anyone confirm this?

put comprehensive on your insurance policy with zero deductible glass itll cost you prob 20 for the year. also covers theft and vandalism. your rates shouldnt go up for a windshield claim. so put the coverage on and when it starts to "spider" get a brandy new one for free.

...Contact mike621...He kinda works for one of the nations largest autoglass places..Im sure he could lend some insight
From what I understand, chip repairs are genrally easy, fast, and perminent. I know for a fact the chip will still be visible, because of the tint seperating. Of course, there's always a chance that the chip will spider out and crack the whole windshield during the repair (if that happens, it was going to happen anyway) Your probly best off getting some sort of glass coverage, and then having them do the repairs

I recently had a couple of stone chips repaired. The insurance deductible is $500, but they waive the deductible if the glass is repairable. When I phoned-in the claim, the first thing they wanted to know was when the damage occurred. They don't like it when you let a chip grow into a windshield-ruining crack.
