She's dead, Jim.
And if she isn't, she will be soon.
My OEM radiator cap has more pressure in it's spring than the new Prestone one I got yesterday, so I know I didn't need it. But ya know how I know for sure? Aside from the clouds of steam rising from my hood today I found the coolant leak. It's not looking good. Fountain Drip Even looking at it up close I still can't tell where it's coming from. I want to say it's the upper hose in that second clip, but I'll have to inspect it when it cools off. Any ideas?

if its just a hose it will be no problem to replace. find the hoses u think and clean them off. then start the car and watch closely. repeat till found. or drain fluid below the suspect hose and remove them and put them in the sink and hold air in both ends and bend. bubbles bad hose. it looks like a hose problem. my ps fluid did the same thing.

replace the hoses first but your radiator could also be falty and put the hose under to much pressure and combllluey. new hoses if it happens again radiator prob.

It's hard to tell just from those videos and the pictures, but I would bet on a hose. Let us know what you find.

Take it easy.
Find out where the actual leak comes from... It might not be that bad. Perhaps it's a good time to service your cooling system in this summer.

Pretty sure I've found the source.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./27464.jpg http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...u_S./27465.jpg That white crusty hose. Gonna take another minute to look it over with the hands instead of the camrea. If anyone knows what the heck that piece of round metal with the hole is supposed to be connected I'd like to find out.

Alright if it isn't already obvious from that picture, a clamp burst off from the top end of that hose.
Also, a bolt was ripped out of the place that was holding that line in place. Not sure which occured first but a simple clamp and nut/bolt with some force to bend the bracket (I guess bracket) back in place should fix this. Wish I had gotten under there earlier.

That was an incredible pain in the ash.
Advice for those of you without garages: Wear goggles and a hat if you are gonna get under your car and screw with wet and slimy stuff that's covered with years of dirt.

Huh?
No wet and slimy stuff covered with dirt under any of my cars. I keep engines and all underparts cleaned on my cars. Haven't you ever sprayed the engine and under the car with degreaser and washed it off? Should be a frequent task if weather permits.

That and the fact I constantly leak oil from various places. They are extremely slow leaks, but they cover everything, and then dirt sticks right onto it.
Thinking about it, I have cleaned the underside before. The next time I drove it all I could smell was buring oil. I figure until I can reseal the engine I'll keep the dirt and stuff there. My front skid plate was accidentally thrown out a while back so that's anohter reason I can't keep tha area clean.
