Trans Stuck in Park During Engine Removal?

Hello,

We are well into the engine removal steps, and the trans won't come out of Park - the button on the shifter handle won't depress, even with significant pressure on the brake pedal. I'm almost certain the key is turned to the Run position - last spot before Start.

Is this normal? I haven't seen anything that said put it in neutral before beginning the process.

Ok, problem solved by making sure all the electrical connections we'd disconnected were clear and not grounded out anywhere, and hooking the batt back up temporarily.

I fiddled around with the shift lock override thing after reading some posts on here, and couldn't get that to do anything.
