Stumble at idle story/fix

Had the MAF failure like stumble/stall at stops with normal higher throttle response. Had fixed this problem with a new MAF a couple of years ago but suddenly returned. Got a new MAF just "cause" but problem didn't disappear this time.

Thought of a vacuum leak but hoses I could see were good. Closer inspection of the manifold intake plastic showed a crack on the lower PS side where there was a dual hose insert site, one for the valve cover breather hose. I guess 25 years of hot oil soaked vapors finally got the best of this plastic seam which seemed like a heat weld of the 2 pipes into the manifold body. Solvent clean, air gun dry of cracked area and hi temp RTV at crack site seems to be the fix.

Re: Stumble at idle story/fix

I'll take off the plastic cowl and get some light in there for a photo..should be able to see the red RTV sealant at the crack site.
