Where to get 5 speed PARTS?!?!

WTF?! How did you swappers get all the parts you needed for a swap? Every salvage yard I call has nothing. And you'd think a lot of WRX's would be crashed.

Any ideas or recommended places? - I'm in Northern New Jersey....close to NY

Am I correct in saying the trans in this car is the following:
...1 gear = 3.454
...2 gear = 2.062
...3 gear = 1.448
...4 gear = 1.088
...5 gear = 0.825
...Final = 4.111

You'll be revving pretty high with that kind of gearing. I would recommend finding a tranny with a .738 5th gear.

Yeah I noticed that too with the 4.11's on that trans I'm just in need to get something going rather quickly. I'd prefer to pick up an 02 (or equiv) late model WRX Impreza. I'd like hydraulic and a trans with little miles. Figure a wrecked 02 would do the job.

Flywheel (depending on how good/bad this one is)
Starter
Clutch Master Cylinder

Pedal Box
Shift Linkage
Shifter Assembly
Shifter Boot

....is that all? Anything else I should get off this thing? And what would be a fair price for it all?

'04 WRX is great. They have the widened 1st and 2nd gears.

Get the tranny x-member also. Its not a direct fit, but it can make a good basis for a x-member that can work.

That's what I like to hear. What are the exact gear ratios on the 04 trans?? I like doing the RPM/MPH calculations

I sent the guy a PM so hopefully he'll get back to me asap. I don't like seeing the SVX parked....front differential took a **** the other day ...but let's see if we can make some good come of it.

One more question - I remember a thread stating a 98 Outback driveshaft was a drop in fit but people were waiting on confirmation. Was it ever confirmed?

I'd like to know the ratios as well. I did a quick search and found the ratios to be the same for 2002-2004 WRX's.

There's an 04 STi that's been wrecked. The damage looks severe though. Take a look:

Do you think the transmission and differentials were able to withstand the abuse? If I got the STi I'd need the Rear differential, correct? Basic installation is still exactly the same to the 5Speed - no?

Yep, 2002-2004 are same gear ratios.

rmjj, the WRX gear ratios are nicely suited to the SVX motor. If you have MS Excel, PM me with your email and I'll give you a spreadsheet with the gear ratios and mph in a detailed table.

If you are not going to be abusing the car too badly, I'd go with the WRX 5MT over the STi 6MT.
