Loose Seat Bolts- no access?
The front two bolts on my passenger seat are very loose but won't loosen or tighten- they must be cross threaded into the nuts, which appear to have broken loose down under the floor (!) I can hear them banging around when I try to tighten or loosen the bolts. Is there any way to access them under the floor? I can't see them under the car...

Re: Loose Seat Bolts- no access?
I just bought the car. I've taken lots of seats in and out and never seen a situation where the nuts, or whatever piece the threaded holes are in, underneath the floor, had come loose.

Re: Loose Seat Bolts- no access?
sounds like your going to have to cut the heads off of the nuts so you can remove the seat.
Once the seat is out, you can get under the carpet. There are holes in the "beams". I'm not sure if they are located where you'll need them to access that area. You may have to cut new holes to weld some nuts. If you need to cut, I'd recommend cutting from inside the passenger area so you don't give water and salt a new entry point into the body.

Re: Loose Seat Bolts- no access?
Sounds like someone cross-threaded them and then tried to get them all the way down!. The threads are pretty fine and that would be easy to do. Also a "tough nut to crack", and not real easy to get to and cut.
good luck Keith |
