question about code 24

Having dug through the How To section, I came uo with a code 24-duty solonoid C. The Power light kept blinking after start-up. Seems to drive and shift ok, no binding cold or warm, but I don't really want to drive it till I fix it. The car is a 92 lsl.
My question is-will this problem also trigger a Check Engine light? When driving about 2 or so miles the CEL appears. When I shut it off and turn on the key, the CEL lights up for a short time and goes out as normal. How much can it be driven w/o damaging the trans?
