Found broken ground wire, what is it for?
I removed the back cover that covers the two intake ports next to the fire wall at the back of the engine just to take a look. I looked around and I found a broken ground wire that goes from the engine firewall in the center part way down to one of the engine to transaxle bolts on the right side. It was badly corroded with green corrosion and it broke.
I repaired this ground but I found another wire that goes from the bottom/back pitching stopper bracket on top on the transaxle on the right side. My wire is only about 4 inches long and then it stops, pointing straigtht up. It looks like it broke or was cut. Does anybody know what this wire is for or where the other end is suppose to connect? Where the wire ends it is just a bare wire end pointing up. I can't find anywhere logically that I think it should go to. Could somebody check their SVX please and let me know where theirs connects. I have a 92 LS-L. Thanks, Ken |

picture of broken wire
Here is a picture of the broken wire. The picture is shot from the passenger side of the car facing toward the drivers side. The shot is pointed behind the intake manifold and down.
Thanks, Ken |

It is a ground wire. Its supposed to go from the firewall to the bracket for the engine brace. It appears you are also missing the connector that allows you to disconnect the ground for service.

What type of connector
Michael,
Thanks for replying. The broken wire I have is supposed to connect to the firewall, is that right? Where on the firewall and what type of connector? I have another ground that was corroded and broken that connects to the fire wall and also to one of the engine-to-transaxel bolts that I repaired. Does the firewall connection have two grounds or just one? Ken |

Forgot to look at the picture you altered.
Michael,
Sorry, I forgot to look at the picture that you sent back. I didn't realize that you altered the photo. I should be able to make a new wire and connect it to the firewall. Thanks, Ken |
