Pictures: Available at http://svx.reaper450128.homeftp.net/svxforsale.htm

I can be contacted at svxforsale@reaper450128.homeftp.net. I'm not working anymore but email is the best way to contact me as I have class during the day and spend the in-between times at places other than my apartment, usually doing homework (the management course load sucks!). Also, I'm currently in Williamsport, PA, while the car is in at my parents house in NJ, so I can only offer test drives to people seriously interested in purchasing the car. My weekends are available for test drives usually, as long as I have some advance notice.

As promised, here's a link to the details on the Subaru Legacy I'm also selling.

Why are you selling? How old are you? How much did the new tranny cost?

svxthc: I bought a 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo, and had to borrow money to pay for that. I'm selling the SVX because I can't afford insurance for two cars (much less two sports cars) and to help pay off the debt. I'm 24 years old, and trained as an automotive technician so the car's been well cared for. I expect you'll want to know why I bought the MR2 so I'll answer that in advance: as a technician I need to drive manual transmission cars occasionally. This was a real hassle at my last job as a tech because I didn't know how to drive stick. So, since I'd already put $6000 into the transmission (to answer your third question) having Level10 rebuild it, I decided to buy a car with a manual instead of wasting the investment. I suppose I could have found another way to learn to drive stick, but after having the SVX for a while and seeing how expensive it can be to modify, I decided a tuner car would be a better choice for me. Don't get me wrong, I still love driving my SVX every chance I get, but the MR2 is cheaper to make even faster.

redsvx: About that... I tried to do that myself, and ended up not having the tools or experience to do it at the time. However, the transmission I attempted that on is not the one in the car. I did that work on a used transmission I got from someone on this board shortly after purchasing the car (the original transmission, which is also the one Level10 rebuilt and thus the one currently installed, had already lost fourth before I bought the car, and third shortly after I got it back home from Connecticut where I bought it) . The transmission is a Level10 Stage 3 PTS Bullet Proof Transmission rebuild, work performed by Level10 at their shop in Hamburg, NJ, and includes the Stage 3 Torque Converter service and Stage 3 Hydrosystem service as well. Level10 also installed the 4.44 gears in the front diff (a local shop near my home town did the rear). Since you asked, I got the kit from Level10's website for around $500.

More details are available at http://svx.reaper450128.homeftp.net/svxforsale.htm.

I'll check out Level 10 and see if shipping is reasonable to Canada.
I've got the 92 I can experiment on.

No one is interested in this opportunity?? All the major work has already been completed and the common problems fixed. This car is built for longevity, unmodified or built up as a high horsepower beast! A few things I forgot to mention:
- An aftermarket Permacool Maxicool 6-pass transmission cooler with a fan (PMC-12315) has been installed in the driver's front fender; combined with the valve body work Level10 did, this transmission will NOT overheat even under extreme circumstances.
- Both rear wheel bearings have been replaced in the last year.
- Braided steel brake lines are installed at all four corners, and Castrol GT-LMA brake fluid is installed.

If you've never driven an SVX with a Level10 built automatic, you're missing out. No more slow, sloppy shifts; this thing shifts HARD. It's a common misconception that this is a bad thing, in fact, slow shifts are what cause automatic transmissions to break down. Just like slipping a clutch on a manual transmission, the smooth, slow engagement manufacturers program and design into factory automatics causes wear. The transmission on my SVX has been rebuilt for high fluid flow for quick clutch pack engagement, and the clutch packs themselves are made of a high quality material for long life. These two upgrades combined will give this transmission a long life even under hard driving conditions. The increased fluid flow combined with the extra transmission cooler (mounted in parallel with the factory one, and controlled by a thermostat to prevent over-cooling in cold weather) keep the fluid cool, extending its life. Level10 also installed Quaker State synthetic ATF for long life and better lubrication.

School starts up again (going back for my bachelor's) next week for me, and I'm still trying to work part time as well, so test drives will be harder to set up, but I am still willing to. Email is still the best method of contact.

No interest in this SVX? OK, new asking price $6500, still willing to negotiate some though. I am in school now as I previously stated, but I just quit my job so my weekends are pretty much free other than homework. In fact, I'll be home this coming weekend for my mom's birthday if anyone is interested in the car.

In addition I've also got a 1995 Subaru Legacy L AWD that I'm trying to sell for my parents. Its the car I owned before the SVX, I gave it to my dad in exchange for a debt I owed my parents last year. 139,000 miles, but in great condition mechanically and good condition otherwise. There is a rust bubble over the passenger rear wheel-well, about a half-dollar size last time I saw it. Its extremely reliable, I've maintained it well, but my parents don't need anymore and could use the cash. We're asking $2500 for it, but we'll take reasonable offers as well. I'll post a link to my sales website for the Legacy later tonight.

Bump... anybody interested now that the snow is here (at least in PA)? After the work I've done and with the snow tires on, I haven't encountered any snow it couldn't go through (short of snow that is physically deeper than the bumper).

your car sounds terrific, it's a damn shame you have to sell it. With christmas around the corner, I dont know if many people will have the money for a nice car....but dont let that discourage you.

Good luck with the sale

I really am going to miss her, especially now that I've seen that mid-rear traction is just not nearly as close to AWD traction as I'd hoped it would be when it comes to snow. The MR2 is fantastic in the sun or even rain, but put a little bit of white stuff down and even starting in 2nd gear sometimes isn't enough to keep from spinning tire. Oh well, circumstances being what they are I can't keep both, and I enjoy the MR2 too much during the rest of the year to sell it just yet.

Hopefully the economy is going to recover a bit soon, because I'm sure that's making this sale hard as well. I never really paid attention to it before, but now that I'm in management courses in college and they're kind of forcing us to take notice of the world around us and how it works I've been watching in disappointment as the economy has slumped recently. I'm kind of hoping someone who's got a little more financial security might buy it as a Christmas present, but I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for the well wishing, though!

Lowered price again, $5750 or reasonable offers! I need to move this car, I owe more than I originally borrowed now!

Should have put this up a while ago, didn't realize quite how buried the pics were on my site. Here's a good one of her at her best, with summer shoes on. There are more at a link on http://svx1992.selfip.net/svxforsale.htm, which may be down tonight. I'll be in NJ at my parent's this weekend from tomorrow afternoon until sometime Monday morning, so I will fix the server there if needed. This also means if anyone is interested in the car I will be there with it, so PM me or email me at svxforsale_at_reaper450128.homeftp.net. Any emails sent might not be received until I fix the server tomorrow.
