Fan and Bearing

Hi guys!

Long time no see... I got a new job 12 months ago, got my SVX (finally) and now that my job has eased up and I know what I am doing, I can relax and enjoy him - after some repairs.

Can I get a radiator fan in Aus? I found these : http://www.drivewire.com/vehicle/1992-subaru-svx/radiator-fan/ would getting 2 of those be OK, once I work out what size mine are?

I need a center bearing for the tail shaft as well. I can get a whole tail shaft from Brooky Spares, so I might as well go that way, instead of trying to find just a bearing.

Drive on

Re: Fan and Bearing

Only a week or so ago a guy up our way (Maitland I think it was) had some on ebay. From a 93 with around 100000k's. I think I've got his contact details so I can check with him if you want.

I also think I saw some on amazon.com. I recently brought in tie rod ends from there, and the price and turnaround was great.

That would be awesome, thank you.

Amazon sell car parts? Been a long time since I have been there, after my credit card was filled up after someone stole it from their site. I will have a look..

Ok have asked the question. Will let you know if I hear anything.

And yes amazon.com sell pretty much anything... but just did a quick search and only found belts, hoses, and relays relating to fans.

Re: Fan and Bearing

From what I understand, the early SVXs (up to around 1994) used a one-piece tailshaft, which did not have a replaceable centre bearing.

I am not sure if the later multi-piece tailshaft is compatible - in fact, I have a suspicion that as the Australian-Delivered SVX uses the VTD AWD system, it may have a different length tailshaft from the US-Delivered model.

....can anyone confirm this?

Jason.
