OK Troy -

Make it so number 1. And while you are doing that, I will get an email out.

PS Does that mean that I am the good looking one? I thought so!

So, in short, maybe this one is best left till next summer and we should opt for the Skagit Valley / Chuckanut plan or some other lowland location. My apologies.

Ooops! Yep, I suppose if the roads are closed that would make it hard.

Well we will come up with something fun to do. While we figure that out, hopefully some others will respond to Earl's email!

Earl has not sent out the email yet, but I will tonight and give the date options and a plan of a trip in the future. You will get this email as well, so we can go from there.

Kinda wondering that myself!

Well I saw that Earl sent out to the list the other day so kinda waiting to see if he got any responses. I know of at least 4 or 5 that were real gung-ho the first couple meets of the year and then seemingly vanished. Can't force any body though.

Guess if Earl doesn't hear anything soon, the four of us that check in here often can just agree on something. I'm also trying to contact Balser by phone (he never checks email or here). Haven't been able to reach him yet, but with enough notice he is a 100% "yes" for a meet too.

Since Rainier was out, anyone want to propose a location based on some of the ideas here?

I have only heard from 2 that can not make it. I have not heard from any that have said yes yet.

How could 2 different people not make it when we offered three different dates to choose from over a month in advance? What are the odds?

Methinks, some have kinda lost interest.

Oh well, to each his own...

Troy (wishing he lived in the "middle east" section of the U.S. where probably a quarter as many SVXes were sold as in the NW, yet there is 10 times more interest and 20-40 cars a meet is the norm)

Actually, wishing he could teleport himself & car to the "middle east" to take advantage about the 10A and seemingly numerous other SVX events held there, and then teleport same back home to the NW after each event... I'd go for that.

I can tell who the commited ones are - they say that they will be there before we come up with the dates! A friend of mine is shopping for one now. He has a few that he is trying to get as I type.

Yes I definitely meant that! SVX matters aside, there are not many places I'd rather be than the Pacific Northwest!

Lightbulb another idea

Here's a link to another possible October tour destination:

http://www.ptguide.com/farmersmarket/

Port Townsend is a nice destination with shops ranging from touristy to funky, good, casual places to get a bite and the Farmers Market runs through most of October. There's also a community garage sale and an art fair in PT during October. A nice driving tour on the two-lane roads running through the countryside could easily be planned.

Port Townsend is one of Corrina and my favorite places for a getaway. We've gone there so much in the last few year in fact, that we've had to cut back for fear of wearing it out. But a SVX event there would definitely be cool. I posted here last May about the parade they have there that we could probably enter.

The down side I see with PT, especially right now with most of our local "members" less than committed, is the distance to get there, and more importantly the fact that a ferry trip is almost a requirement. That means a lot of time involved, some $$$$, etc. But I highly recommend a visit there to anyone!

my $0.02:

I'm not put off by the time needed or the ferry trip. I'd be up for a day trip to Pt Townsend (with ample time for a group lunch as well as snooping in the shops on Water Street) or a Whidbey loop tour (with the Seattle area contingent caravaning north to Skagit Co. to meet up w/ the Burlington contingent, across Deception Pass and down the Island w/ stops in Coupeville and Langley; the Seattle cars returning by ferry to Mukilteo). It would be easy to find nice SVX backroads for our entertainment on either tour!!

But I'm open to anything. Just my $0.02. (10/5 and 10/12-10/13 are booked for me; 10/19 or 10/26 are open)
