220,000 miles
This past Saturday Bessie turned over 220K. She's still running strong with the exception of a little lifter noise. She'll get a new oil pump and front seals and should be ready to hit 400,000...

you're catching up
I just wanted to add my two cents here. My first SVX (currently off the road) has 223K+ miles on it so you're gettin' really close. :-)

Congrats!
I officially pass the hat of highest mileage to you. Why is it off the road if I may ask? Doug

Oil pump? Front seals? At 211,2?? miles my lifters are starting to make a racket at idle too. Will replacing these parts save me the trouble of doing a rebuild?

No idea. I'm only doing it because I tried to flush the oil and that didn't help. I've heard about other Subarus that low oil volume (not pressure) as they age and cause lifter noise at idle. I just figured after 220K, replacing the oil pump is good preventative maintainence. As for the seals, the front crank seal is leaking, so I figure I might as well do the cam seals while I'm in there. If you haven't changed your timing belt or water pump, you might as well do that while its all torn apart. Doug

Subaru oil pumps
My 88 XT started to "tick" at idle at about 150,000 miles. I ignored it for a while, and eventually it would tick whenever it was running.....even on the highway (quite the racket). 1 new oil pump later, and the ticking was gone.

off the road etc
Doug, The SVX is off the road because I lost the ring and pinion in the front differential. Which kinda annoyed me because I had just rebuilt the transmission including the small gears etc. in the front diff. I found out afterwards that I also had about 25psi compression in cyl #5. So it's in pretty tough shape.
The engine and transmisson are out of the car. The engine is in storage and the transmission is at my house with the rest of the car. I agree that lifter noise can often be cured by replacing the oil pump. On the 1.8 and 2.7 engines the oil pump seals would often start letting air by. The resulting tiny bubbles in the compressed oil would allow the lifters to compress slightly and tick. Jay
