Cool the best gas mileage ever!!

three-hundred and one miles before i filled up again! haha...i filled her up with 16 gallons this evening...this is the best milage i've ever had on a tank with this car. i usually only get about 230 before i fill up...and i run the needle down to the same spot every time (halfway intersecting the 'E') i did drive to the cities on this tank...so it was about two hours of driving at speeds of 80+...oh well. just thought i'd share my good news! lol

Dude, 301/16 = 18.8125. What is your car on? No offense but my previous 94 with a leakey engine gave me 26, my pearlie gives out 29 and my claret gives me 28 at 70mph.

i don't have a clue in the world...which is the reason i am overjoyed that i actually got almost 19mpg. it eats gas like i drink water...ummm...i had a new engine put in...it seems to be all in order. nothing leaks or anything...i'm open to suggestions if anyone has any. i know i have lead foot tendencies, but i dunno...maybe it actually drinks it???

Maybe that lead foot is not made of out lead afterall. See if it is made of out mercury. I have a pretty heavy foot as well. I normally drive my cars around 80mph, sometimes going over to 120s.

My 92 with 180k used to average about 20-21 MPG in mixed city/highway driving, but after cleaning the throttle body, I'm now getting around 22-23. This is with AC and the requsite 10-15 minutes of rushhour traffic in between the highway cruise.

seraph...

no offense but there is no way in hell that you are getting that kind of gas mileage doing city driving. the svx avergages 18-20 in the city regardless of driving style. are you sure you calculated the mileage correctly?

Those were highway driving. I get around 21ish on all cars in the city. But then again I did nothing to the cars at all. They are all fully stock apart from the lights.

check your gas

Are you sure your using premium gas?

I have a serious lead foot and I can always get 300 per tank, 400 when I am on the highway.

Your fuel computer might need to be recalibrated. I don't know the exact name of the component, but I am sure someone here knows what I am talking about.

I've never put anything below 93 octane in the car. most of my driving is city driving, but i'm getting only 3 miles more per gallon than i did in my grand cherokee.

Using 91 octane (the highest we can get here), I never get below 21 mpg when doing all town driving. The best I've ever gotten on all hwy miles is 31 mpg. That has happened twice. Average during our 3500 mile trip last month was around 28 mpg.

I consistently get 21 MPG average with mixed driving in my current Pearl. 26 average hwy.

I check my latest acquisition and got 22 mixed and 28 hwy.

I've cleaned the throttle body of my current car, so it isn't that factor that is causing the lower mileage. I'm thinking I need to clean my injectors, since, I noticed that Peter, in his records, had his cleaned a year or so ago.

Gas

I once drove 350 miles with one tank but then it was tilt.
That was my best mileage.
srmifer --> are you driving short distances most of the time?
that "drinks" gas!

I'd have the Oxygen sensor's checked and replaced if necessary. Bad O2 sensors can cause all sorts of fuel related and emission problems.
