Re: Whats your exit strategy?

I hit a curb and messed up my expensive wheels yesterday as I slid.. I need to get them fixed..

I know I should be spending my money on other things, such as my bills but I really need a better paying job.. I barley scrape by with what I've got. The only reason I have new anything on my car is cause it was something I needed or something that was free or came with the car.. I didn't necessarily need OT's Loco's but I did need new wheels and got them fairly cheap.. Everything else is going on a list to be purchased at a later date..

Maintenance, debt, then fun...

Re: Whats your exit strategy?

1) I start my new job Monday. Continue work as normal.

2) Pay my credit card and other bills on time.

3) Continue going to my classes at night.

4) Remain self-sufficient.

That's really it. Its still business as usual. Thankfully I did not have money in the stock market to lose, and everything else is pretty much as per the norm.

I am getting around to it. The reason why maintenance has priority over debt is because if I have no way to work, I wont have money.. Fortunately when I receive my tax money, I'll have my debts paid off and be able to remain current on all of my bills. With that out of my mind, I can finally continue to save my extra cash..

This is the point... If your car costs too much, you need a different car.

Different car? I do like the suggestion and would like something more cost efficient but I have no funds to get another car.. I would take a bus, but there is barley a transit system here. My received my SVX from an impound lot for free.. Free is all I can afford.. Till I get my good job..

Re: Whats your exit strategy?

The point I'm trying to make is the "what if" and this mess pulls everyone down? I'd rather have some essentials water, food, shelter, ammo, etc. but will help my fellow neighbor if he needs it. I have debt just like everyone else here but do pay my bills on time, even though I cant get what i want right now. It is a matter of needs over wants. I need to keep a clear mind for the needs of my kids and myself. The ex will just lose it in my opinion

Re: Whats your exit strategy?

Well my strategy is to keep having no credit cards untill I get out of college. I do have a small amount of student loans. Now if they call and want me to start wanting me to pay on it I will be able to. But they are government loans and subsidized. I do not want a credit card because ther will be a temptation to send what I don't have. I manage to find my way

The only card I really like is American Express. They double the manufacturer's warranty on electronics, even if you accidentally damaged it.

Re: Whats your exit strategy?

Stuff like this is a joke. If you had an enterence strategy, ie went at life with a plan, instead of wandering aimlessly, you wouldn't need an exit strategy.

Here's my exit strategy:
In october I went out and bought a 47" LCD 1080p HDTV and 7.1 surround sound system, prices were slashed due to a weary economy.

In November I bought a 2004 diesel Excursion for half retail value due to high fuel costs.

In December I spent way to much on Christmas gifts for my kids and family.

Just after New Years I bought 2 motorcycles and a trailer to haul them in. They were super cheap because it's the dead of winter, and because people are selling off their non-essentials to pay their bills.

This weekend, I'm heading out to NJ to look at 3 yachts. I'll be picking up the one I decide on the following weekend after I take a few days to evaluate what I saw.

People look at me and say "In case no one told you, the economy is in serious trouble. You're supposed to be saving, not spending." However, I approach life with an enterence strategy and plan well ahead. I've had everything I bought planned out months, if not years, in advance. Now just happens to be the best time to buy them. I have my 401k in relatively healthy state considering the market. I pay all my bills the moment I get them. Except auto insurance. They're getting annoying. I refuse to use checks because of identity theft a few years back, stole 300 checks and used them that weekend. My bank was less than helpful. My auto insurance refuses to take credit card payments, so I have to stop in the physical office and use cash. They'll get their money when I get around to it. If they took credit card payments, they'd be paid before the bill was due.

Plan ahead. Don't make purchases you can't afford. Live within your means, not within your credit limit, and you'll be ok when something like this happens to the economy. People don't seem to grasp that concept.

Also, I have no credit cards, and the only payment I make is my truck, and htat's only because I need to have something going on to get a loan for a house, having no debt somehow makes it harder to get a mortgage? Who knew...
