Results are IN.. VW diesel

Put $25. worth in the Rabbit saturday. $4.79 @ gallon. Put the guage just under the peg.

I have driven the car 120mi over the last 3 weeks, (all in town).

It had 3/4 tank when I started blowing off the cobwebs. It's doing over 40 mpg in town! It isn't anywhere as comfy as the Subi, but it is a lot better than the bicycle!
I got 2 weeks running out of $42.00 in the Outback. ran 180 miles.(also, all in town)

I guess I'll have to start on the Diesel 82 Jetta that sits at the farm next.

Nice mileage man... I still think it's worth it to get a Honda CRX. Same mileage and it runs on 87.

Last fill up for me was 1.8 gallons @ $7.54 (runs better with premium). Went 132.4 miles on the 1.8 gallons of which maybe 25 miles was on the highway as I'm still trying to keep the carbs from fouling the plugs at 60-65mph. That comes out to a cool 73mpg. That's down a bit from the last tank but still quite respectable I'd say.

Oh and the 175 isn't nearly as comfortable as my SVX but is on par with the F-250 and aside from my feet vibrating asleep after 20 minutes is close to the Nighthawk with the corbin which I'm lucky if I see 40mpg out of. Needless to say the Nighthawk tends to sit quite a bit. Total investment of $800 including a title (had to use a service), tags, insurance, new shoes total ground up home resto including new rings and gaskets. Once you've tired of your smoker she can be yours for $1900.

My 85 Interceptor will give me a week's daily trips on one tank, about $20.

The SVX costs about $35.

I have an 85 Tercel with a stick. I used to use it when I had to pick up cars for a dealer. I would drive the tercel there and pull the dealer tag and drive the other car home. Looks like trash but runs like a swiss watch!

I am toying with a propane conversion. (Duel fuel kits are available)

I know that ugly is only paint deep on most cars. I think I can handle that!

That's only if you get the HF model, plus the Honduh won't run on veggie oil, or used tranny fluid, etc... (If I still had my Rabbit, I'd be runnin it on used ATF from work lol)

I knew a guy that put used motor oil mixed with gas through one for a year! It stunk and smoked a lot. I was not impressed!
There is no shortage of trany fluid in these parts. I might have to mix a little in and see what happens.
