Something is dying in my engine

Well I have a video of it, but i will do my best to describe it. Honestly to me it sounds like I have a freaking desiel under there. The F-350 or what ever the Ford ones are but it is really loud and something is dying in there. It doesnt do it all the time mostly it occurs when i'm idling. I hope I wont hear bad news. I hope the video can help. I know its not great but if any of you have heard a normal running EG33 you'll notice it being much louder and different. Thanks for any help.

wow... cannot really make out where or what it is comming from. Sounds are a little foggy due to vid quality but it sounds like a bad bearings in an accessory or an idler...

I am going to take off the belt cover and investigate when I get home from school and work. There is some vibration coming from it and I just have to be careful beacuse well all the moving parts/electricity running through it. Anything specific that I should look for ?"

Sounds

Its hard to determine much of anything from the vid, but signs around your radiator indicate that you may have had an overheating problem. If that is the case then it could explain the noises. It sounds a bit like a car that I bought that had overheated and ruined the engine, but the sounds were primarily from only one side of the engine--passenger side head. Can you isolate the sound such as one side of the engine or the other or engine sounds from possible accessory failure sounds. Do all the accessories such as power steering pump, alternator and AC compressor work without strange noises.

Again, hard to make out, but it sounds a bit like bearings in the alternator/PSpump.

Thats a new silla radiator and I cannot see what you are talking about when you say signs of overheating?? its clean.

Try and take the acc belts off the car for a few seconds and start it up... tell us how it sounds then.

I think he was talking about the let over sealent they used to seal the old Radaitor. Its new and I havent had problems since I replaced the old one. Heck even before I replaced it, It had split back open a bit instead of attempting to drive it i waited on my replacement. I have a good idea it might be the alternator just from what I seem to think the noise is coming from. Now can you kindly explain how I go about doing testing to see if the bearings are failing. Thanks for the help and advices.

As far as everything working without noises it does. I have a fan that is cracked and when it turns on it makes noises but thats not the noise. AC works, and PS is fine, I have a leak in the Steering rack or something but besides that works fine.

Just pull the belts off the engine and run it without them for a few seconds.. This will help narrow down whether or not it is comming from the accessories

The clutch in my AC compressor went bad a little while ago and it sounding horrific. I solved the problem by cutting my AC belt. I always run my climate control in ECON mode anyway, so I'm not losing anything.

So finally having time to look at stuff and had a real machanic look at it, a family friend, and he found that one of the pullys in the timing bearings busted and is causing the one to rub against the pully infront of it that the A/C runs off of. Attached is a crappy drawing might help :/. Well after he told me I promptly asked him how much to fix it which he replied "I don't touch subarus" which prompted the question why?. His answer was "Subaru does everything backwards" that and he doenst know the timing about it. He did give me the name of a place to call but he also said if they can't help me if I can get the timing information he can do it, and I can help. I need to know if anyone has ever had to do something like this and what parts are needed. This SVX is my DD and I am going to stop driving it because of the grinding its doing, yes metal shavings. Someone help me

I am sorry if It looked like I was just ignoring you but I wasnt. I had personal stuff I have been having to deal with and I havent had time to even come on here. I do listen and apperciate your advice. Its not like I have just been sitting around saying "naw I'll do it tomorrow" . I wasnt able to find what the problem was but I did what I could and took it to him for him to find it which he did. He used something like what doctors use except with a rod at the end. Again I wasnt ignoring you sorry if it looked like that, I did what you said but wasnt able to narrow it down.

Yes I did as you suggest with his help. We took them off and sound continued. He then used that tool to find where it was coming from.

probably a timing belt idler like he said then. The timing belts on the SVX are probably the easiest belts I have ever had to do... just harder to get to that most thats all
