Bonnevile visit

I went to the first couple of days of the Speed Week at Bonneville last weekend. It seems to me that there might be some potential with the SVX. Has anyone tried at Bonneville before?

I have entered a car (was not of age of consent at the time to drive) at the salt flats Speed week. It was not an SVX (it was 1987 at the time), but I have thought about it since. My focus is more on the Silver State Challenge speed week. When I can compete in that one, I will also do the salt flats for kicks. Until then, the roll cage will not be finished until this winter and its a required safety at those speeds

When the time does come, I will be sure to post... trust me.

With the SVX & XT having the same CD of .29 I'd think the XT being lighter & having a more aggressively downforce oriented shape, might be the better Bonneville racer.
The smaller car might lose some stability at high speeds though. To use Huck's cars as an example, Frankenwedge may have an overall higher top speed, but will be more diffucult to hold down. His SVX would be ultimately slower, but MUCH more fun.

Sounds a bit backwards to me.

The fact of the matter is, as you speed up your drag increases exponentially. This means, the faster you're trying to go, the less drag you want. At high speeds you don't want down force as it'll translate into drag.

Now don't get me wrong, you need some down force, but not too much. Personally I think the SVX would be much better for a high speed run. More weight, which will make it easier to control, and a longer wheelbase, so it'll be more stable at high speeds.

But as you mentioned earlier, the XT would be more shaky and hard to control, making it much, MUCH, more fun.

Might I add my ultimate top speed SVX would be powered by TWIN EJ25T (I wonder what that shift linkage would look like?)
