Ac Condensor Needed Urgently
ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT THE WORST TIME. tODAY WE HAVE A HEAT INDEX OF OVER 100 DEGREES AND THE AC CONDENSOR QUITS. aNYONE HAVE A SOURCE FOR A NEW CONDENSOR OTHER THAN THE DEALER? nEED ON AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO GET THGROUGH THE SUMMER. dON'T REALLY WANT A USED ONE BECAUSE IT'S ALREADY 10 YEARS PLUS AND COULD GO ANYTIME. I HAVE A 94 BUT ALL SHOULD BE THE SAME. HELP! WIFE IS NOT HAPPY SINCE IT'S HER DAILY RIDE.

If you want a new one your only source is the dealer. If you want used then go to car-part.com or someone on the forum who is parting out an SVX. I wish I had one for ya since your close by.

Silly question: How do you know your condensor is bad? Is it leaking? Are you sure it's not something simpler like an O-ring where one of the pipes connect to it?

|
I had no cold air and went to a quick oil change place for a recharge on the system. The system was real cold for about 2 days and then no cold air. This time I took the car to my regular mechanic and he called to say that the condensor was bad. I didn't ask if he checked the o rings or where it was leaking. I'll ask him today to be more specific. I'll follow up with a pm when I know more today.

the condenser is leaking from a seam not the o rings. I can't believe that Subaru produced a condenser specifically for the SVX since they have interchanagebility of parts with other models and other manufacturers. Anyone have any idea of how to check compatability from other manufacturers that might be available from aftermarket.

Maybe you can get other condensor that'll work with SVX, just have to make it work. Try to get something similar size and specs?
But how much is cost from Subaru or any other Auto part stores?
