eg33 price
found an 85K mile engine in cental wa for $850... worth it or no?
i want to get back into my svx and was really thinking about the sc route if i can scratch together the $.... opinions appreciated

If it is in good shape, that isn't a bad price. I paid $500 for one and thought that was about a cheap as they get. I have seen many that are more that that one. Good luck.

I've seen them pop up on ebay from time to time, usually being sold by an engine importer service where they are Japanese engines. Always less than 70,000 miles I think is the rule (I might be off, but it's low mileage nonetheless).
Price point is usually $700-$900 on these.... BUT, they are almost always located in Florida so you are automatically adding a few hundred for freight shipping to WA. Sounds like you might have a good lead there.

thanks for the input, I'll check ebay, seems like WA sales tax offsets shipping at times. The other point is local buy means local warranty, at least i can go yell in person instead of via phone or email CAPS! A new motor would be cheaper than the $2500 the dealer quoted me for pulling my motor and stopping the oil leaks (i didnt ask, they just quoted me while i had it in for something else).
my best bet is to replace all the belts/water pump/seals while the motor is on the stand, correct?

Yes, that would be the best time. It is much easier and more room to work. I would change the plugs as well.
