Trying to light rear center reflector

I'm sure this has been done by many of you, but I haven't been able to find a thread on it. I can get the rear light bar off the car, but I'm not sure what type of additional lights would work best to illuminate the center reflector. Do I have to remove the lens from the assembly, or can I just drill into the back in the middle and install some small (1/4"rd) LED's from the back? Has anyone tried using a neon bar, or other types of lighting? What works best?
Help.
Mark

This has been brought up before. I always thought this would make it look like a Sunfire.

I've always wanted to light up just the SVX word. I know it's been done *some*. SVXtacy had that on his car but I think he said it was like that when he bought it.

You don't have much room there.

Do a Google search for "glow tape", "glow sheet", "EL wire", "EL tape" or variations on that theme. Very cool stuff that is super thin. HOWEVER, I agree with those who said it would look like a Pontiac. Not good.

I've thought about it....and thought it would look hot as hell - but ....you can't just light up the whole thing. It would only look good if "Subaru SVX" was the only thing that illuminated. I've thought about tracing out inside the reflector the Subaru SVX part and painting everything else black (or red) so it wouldn't illuminate. The lighting also needs to be even. Pontiac looks cheesy because you can see that there's two seperate light bulbs in there and just looks gay.

Looks like I'll have to post gutted out pics of the damn lights. You REALLY DO NOT have enough room.

Two main problems:
1. No room. There is less than 1/8 gap between the center difuser and the housing.
2. The SVX logo is silkscreened on and will block light, not pass it.

You would to completly change the inner workings of the taillight panel to fit.

I love a challenge. Looks like I'm gonna tear the whole thing apart to figure this out. I saw a fiber optics light that consists of a flexible glass rod about a foot long and 1/8 diameter & thought maybe it would thread into a hole and across the "SXX" part. But the idea of changing the whole inner workings sounds like more fun. Doesn't the "Alcyone" light up on the Japanese models?

I've got two Twin Turbos, and the only things that light up are the tyres and the driver's red eyeballs!!!

I'm sure there's plenty of room in there ...I'll bet you can fit a CCFL between the panel and the "SVX" logo ....still would have to paint everything else a dark color though.
