J/K! I'm a staunch Centrist. I think they are all off their rockers.

Gonna go see if this Avatar works... I decided to crop it instead of reducing it.

Yes!!! It worked!!

But it looks a little too busy... Kind of distracting ... Gonna have to make something up that doesn't shout as loud.

Okay, Matt or someone.

Tell an old fart like me:
1. What is an AVATAR? (can it be a simple photo? I'm not sure how to do GIF's either)
2. How do I establish one?

Please bare with the oldies and non-computer literate folks......

Thanks,
Harry

PS: How's the new baby, Matt? And Kim?

take ms paint make a square 100x100 pixels doodel something you have your basic .jpg pic ICON or avatar Take a few of those pics put em toghether(i don't know how to do this part) and you have a gif or moving pic. and If you want to you can just shrink an existing pic like I did to create yours.

Yeah, like he said it can be any photo really. If you have a photo you want to use you just open it in your favorite photo editor program and then resize it to be small enough (100x100 pixels) and then save it with a new name and use .gif or .jpg format.
If you have a photo in mind but are still confused or don't have any photo editor software just attach it here and we'll get it in the right format for you to make it your avatar.

Moving gifs are another form of avatar (a .gif file does not have to be moving, it is just another file format like a .jpg but the format makes it capable of moving). They are basically a bunch of .gif pictures linked together. You can get a gif creator for free at tucows.com or zdnet and then you take a bunch of pictures you have, shrink them all down, then add them to a movable gif file and specify how long each picture lasts in seconds before the next one shows. Once you save it you upload that file to be your avatar and you get a neat little moving avatar.

Once you have the file you want click on "user cp" and then on "edit avatar" and then click on "browse" and find the file you have on your computer with the box that pops up. Once you find it select it, click on "open" and then when you are back to the network click on "save changes"
If the file was too big it will give you an error, otherwise you will have a new avatar.

The little tyke and Kim are both doing great. He is sitting on my lap fighting to stay awake as I type this.

Thanks, Matt and thundering. Still having some trouble. How about this pic for an Avatar, Matt? If you can help me out, it will much appreciated!

Okay. I can't even get a photo inserted How about I send an e-mail with it attached? I THINK I can do that. Every time I try to "insert an image, I get a box asking for "text" (?).
