It's possible - only for 'newly' rebuilt axles though. I think Carquest sells their rebuilt SVX axles for around that price too...

NAPA sells the for about the same price too. I don't think they are new though.

cvaxles.com sells them for about $55 ea.

I haven't used them yet, but have talked to them. The guy I talked to is familiar with Subaru's and "always wanted an SVX".

Many folks over at Ultimatesubaru.net swear by them, and folks with older Subaru's have had to deal with CV issues ;-)

Its probably rebuilt....new axle from subaru is around 300 bucks so I dont think autozone would sell something new for 75.

I went to Autozone, and they were confused, that the rebuilts were the same price as the new ones, They do have a performance set of axles to, 200 each losts of money.

'Performance?' Riiiiiiiight.

I bought a rebuilt axle for my wife's Legacy last year and it started making noise right away. The noise could be from the diff, but I doubt it. I'm pretty sure it's that remanufactured axle...for which I have undoubtably lost the receipt.

The reman axle was from Advance Auto.

I've also purchased rebuilt CV axles from Murray automotive (for the wife's '95 Legacy) for about $80ish range. They come with lifetime warranty and I haven't had any problems with them. This is one of those parts that works fine until the boot tears. Then it doesn't matter if it's a brand new part or rebuilt!

Autozone Axles

HI,

I replaced both front axles from Autozone, the core was $85. So $85 + $75 = $160 up front.

They are aftermarket rebuilds, and actually were very easy to install. Haven't had any problems with them (6 months and counting).

I think they are the same as the Legacy axles, hence the reason for the low price.

Regards,
