I did this when I first got my SVX (used, gift). Went right into the curb and smashed up a rim and the steering was all weird.
Ended up being a bent control arm, damaged steering rack, smashed ABS sensor, lighter wallet, and a hurt ego. |

SVXpert is in S. Jersey. I am in Haddon Heights, he worked on my car in Deptford. PM him!

Yeah he worked on my car to do the 60k ...nice guys. I might have to give him a ring, see if he could check it out.
So I've got a question: Is it safe to drive? Like - it still drives but if I don't force the wheel left (to keep the car straight) it'll drive to the right. But, if I take the bad rim off, put the rear one in the front, put the donut on the back, put the car in FWD mode --- I shouldn't damage anything right? I wouldn't be driving at highway speeds. Oh this is such a pain in the arse Oh - and we're supposed to get hammered this weekend with snow .........................so now the car will probably get plowed in and burried. This weather sucks.

The wheel is pushed back. You have bent the lower wishbone, and possibly also the steering arm. With luck, you may not have broken the rack. I suspect it will drive, but you will be dragging the right tyre, so don't get any major speed up, it's not safe. Also, it would be wise of you to take it to an alignment place and put it on a ramp, inspect from underneath. You should check for damage to the steering rack, and also be sure you have not damaged the CV joint, nor pulled the axle from the diff. As long as these are ok, it will be safe to drive at slow speed! Sorry to hear about this, hope you get it fixed cheaply. Talk nice to someone who is parting a car. You need suspension components. Joe.

LOL
Sorry to laugh at your misfortune. I did that to my SVX in the last snowfall. It's been sitting and I've been driving dealer cars for 2 weeks while new tires arrive. Tonight, I am driving my SVX again. And its time to get back to the carcomputer again. How's life?

Well it probably won't be a while til I can get the car looked at. If we do get the 10" of snow they predict I won't be driving till it all melts away.
I'm hoping all it needs are some arms, new rim and an alignment. Lwin -> Actually, your post made me laugh as well. My computer is still working great but is pissing me off. The biggest problem I face is cold start ups. It's been less that 0* celcius for a couple days now and the computer won't boot. Once I've got the heat on for about 10min or so so the car is warm, it'll start. I don't know how to solve this. SSSVX -> I honestly don't know. If I were to guess I'd say 10-15mph. My roommate lent me his car to go to work the other day, which was nice, but wow, it feels like crap to drive. Steering is sensitive and it has no balls. Blind spots galore too ...............I miss the SVX

Well, done, dude!
Hit back where it hurts. On a side note, I am poor at parking and often scuff the rims. Anyone know of or recommend good tires that protect the rims? Joe

The reason behind that is (a lot of the guys from places like MN are facing too) your HDD will not spin up. I tried a USB HDD option. Even at USB 2.0, it's still slow to boot. I might be screwing up things. So, I am going with removable HDD option. Like this:HDD Rack See if that helps. Also, LCD might be alittle too cold to start. I have 2' of snow outside....

wow ...so far we've got a good 6-8" out there.
I've thought of using Peltier's inside the case with some temperature monitoring hardware I build. Maybe at a certain temperature the peltiers enduce heat within the case. But I'd have to redo the entire case and figure something out. But it should work well because the metal would act as the heatsink containing the heat.

How much room do we have under the seat? Since M10K can't do 800x480, I have to put a PCI riser and I got to figure out how high I can go.

I have a 2U reverse riser in mine - you have at least 2.5" (including case) to do whatever it is you need.
You do need to cut the carpet for 3" ............keep in mind the insulation in the carpet is about 1" thick. I think this is why I have more problems with my SVX install than I did in the G20. In the SVX, the case is bolted to the hard steel body. But in the G20 the computer was stuffed inside the plastic, insulated dashboard.
