Re: cheapest oem parts

all belts and hoses. <-- replace timing belt too
a full tune up. (any better then oem parts ?) <-- stock NGK plugs
thermostat ( it maybe bad already)<-- good idea
fuel filter a oil change <-- bleed pressure out of fuel system first

anything else while I am at it?

1. Change Tranny fluid and internal filter
2. add a externial tranny cooler and filter.
3. front main oil seal (under t-belt)
4. Upper cam shaft caps (they leak a lot)Part #9

PartickB,

Order your parts from Dave (Red95svx). He gives a great discount to members on the board (like 10% above cost) and I have not been able to beat his prices anywhere else.

He's in MA, and can be reached at 800-367-7222. Follow the prompts to the Subaru Parts Dept and it'll connect you directly to him.

I refer all my SVX friends to him. He's great and will help you out even if you just need a part #...

Hey Patrick,

Personally I wouldn't replace any seal unless it is leaking or you are already there doing something else (i.e. replacing the T-belt or water pump for the front seal and cam seal). Definately go with a Subaru T-stat. Too many others esp Stants are very unsuited to a Subie for some reason. Another place to try is Liberty Subaru in NJ. I've always had a good experience but was getting parts through Russ there long before anyone on the board was doing it. I'd go with someone here if I didn't already have a source that has treated me good. Oh yeah, don't forget about that PCV valve while your at it. Again Subie is the best suited.

Might want to replace your O2 sensors while you're at it, especially if the cr has over 100k miles on it.

I tried to order pats thru Dave last week, but he had to cancel my order for reasons unknown. He seemed to hint at "trouble".

I tried to PM him to jokingly ask if the feds had raided the dealership.... no reply.

I hope he comes back, as the prices were good.
