Using the RX-7 16x8" rims (make a great cross-over wheel for the SVX) you'll be able to fit 245/40 rubber without rubbing issues.

That's the largest set-up I know of that works with no problems. However, they are dished rims available in teh aftermarket, that push the edge of the wheel outwards of the wheel-wells allowing people to run much larger tires.

Ya really need to run the same size on the front as the back... Diffrences in rotational speeds are a big deal on Subaru's...... AWD can ruin your style sometimes, but ya can't beat it on a mountian road

I remember a guy running 265's in the back, and 245's in front.
I think he was in the UK. I'll go try a search.

I also think there was a guy 'down under' who had a similar set-up...

Found a thread from the guy in Australia ASKING about 265's...but I know there was a guy who had them. I specifically remember it was staggered front/back.

I think it was a red car, and the rims were the BBS mesh style.

Cant find anything with a search.

I saw 245/50/16 on stock wheels at Subaru service a few years back. I remember looking and thinking, what is that, then taking a closer look.

I've heard of some people stuffing 245's on 7.5" wide rims, but that's dangerous. I guess the taller sidewall (compared to the 245/40) would allow the tire to curve and fit the narrower wheel better, but the rolling circumference of your tires must increase by a lot!

I am about to give up on looking for RX-7 wheels... Thinking about just going back to stock wheels. But I will be getting a set of Ultra High performance tires that I can use at AutoX... Does anyone know if 245/50's will fit on the stock SVX wheels without a problem?? after using the tire calculator, I found that they would have almost the same circumfrence as stock 225/55's... THe only gain would be that they are wider (exactly what I need)...

Bill, What tire size do you think I could run on the Stock wheels without any issues since I have the Koni/GC suspension...

Thanks

You would want 245/45-16's to more closely match circumference with 225/50-16's.

Also, lets just say that I know someone that has a set of RX-7 wheels that are in excellent shape and have tires... $400 is what he is asking... would that be too much??

If your SVX is AWD, don't mix tire sizes. FWD offers many more options, but not necessarily on stock wheels. I know someone who had no issues going with 235/50-16 on stock wheels, but those tires are rare. If you are going to a 245 or larger, or going to a 45 aspect ratio you really need a wider wheel. Check with a reputable tire dealer; most will test fit tires to your car and help you select the right tire-wheel combination. Best wishes.

Dude, I know all about AWD and the effects of diffrent tire sizes... The question that I was origionally asking was what the widest tire is that will fit on the SVX wheel... My sexond question was if $400 is a decient deal on a set of excellent condition RX-7 wheels and tires... Also, How do ya tell if the RX-7 wheels are the reenforced ones or the unreenforced ones?

Thanks though
