No love for the Subie here in Idaho

So, I was on Idahostreetracing.com and was checking out some threads about why every riceboy Honda owner loves VTEC. Anyway, the whole subject got way off topic and I came to find out that there are a lot of people here in Idaho who absolutely despise the SVX. I found it personally offensive because all these people are talking about how their CRX's and their Integra GSR's can annihilate an SVX any day, any time.

I personally would like to see some of these cars struggle to keep up with some of the 5 speed SVXn. I just got my turbo and am already doing the books to see if it is feasible to gain more than lose. I also found a 4.44 rear diff to swap in.

The one factor that these people are overlooking is that the SVX wasn't designed to drag race. It was designed to cover distance at high cruising speeds. Some people.

They called the SVX a mid 15 second car and said it was slow and it sucked because it was a subaru and subaru didnt make alot of them. One even said " theres more preludes than SVX's"....well isnt that obvious...thats what makes the SVX a unique car. One moron even said something like " your windows dont even roll down all the way" This is what annoys me about these people that have hondas because they think those cars were meant to go fast and that they were built as race cars. The fact of the matter is that honda and acura and all these other ricer models are family cars with the exception of a few. No matter how much is costs me to keep the SVX i would still take it over any honda or acura or toyota any day any time. Keith I seriously think you need to school these young ignorant kids . I made one comment about how most true sports cars are RWD or AWD and the response i got was that i am ignorant and stupid...go figure. One question though, I have always thought the SVX was a "sports car" now is that true or not? Even if its not true im still calling it a sports car .

The truth is any car where one set of tires has to do all the steering and putting power to the ground (FWD) will never be better than an AWD or RWD car. It's simple physics. Who's ignorant now?

I get kinda tired of hearing this type of knuckelhead mouth off, so when they start going yap yap yap about their cars I usually say something like "I've got a '97 M3, but it's not really fast enough for me, I'm going to lighten it up to about 2800 pounds and buy the $3000 kit that squezes 300HP out of it." That almost always shuts them up

The SVX is a true sports car. Technically speaking, sports cars aren't defined mainly by performance but by design... The cabin area on our cars isn't a dominant feature in the design - similar to other 2+2 sports cars like the Ferrari 550/575 Maranello, Mazda RX-8, Porsche 911 and Maserati Coupe & Quattroporte. On typical sedans like the BMW 3/5/7 series and Honda Civic/Accord, the cabin area is much larger and a focal point in the styling.

The RX-8 Program Manager, Noboru Katabuchi, said it best in an interview with Road & Track: "A lot of factors go into defining what is a sports car, but the most important, I believe, are weight and size, which include the general proportions of the car...the cabin of sports cars should look smaller."

I have had my SVX for alittle over a year now and have yet to have ANYTHING wearing a Honda emblem take me in 0-60, cornering, or quickly "darting" through traffic at 90mph. I wouldn't waste too much energy on what Honda "racers" say about their cars. Granted, they can be fast... but the majority of the ones talking smack are barely keeping their cars on the road and boasting a whopping 140hp will be better than anything in it's class. Just remember (and pardon my french) Honda's are like tampons... every puzzy has to have one.

Trust me, I'm hunting down all these tossers and schooling them in the education area of the SVX. One at a time. I am going to make a request to everyone that reads this. Please, if you have time available, go register at www.idahostreetracing.com. I'm tired of all these Honda freaks talking smack. Also thinking that it would be hilarious if a predominantly SVX population infested the "Honda Culture"

Time to talk some smack

I'm a Honda owner as well as a SVX owner. My 89 CRX Si is quicker than my SVX and handles better too, as long as the ground is nice and dry. Throw wet roads or snow into the picture, and the SVX will easily leave the CRX behind.

Of course, my CRX is far from stock with a B16 engine swap, LSD, and a very nice suspension set up for autocrossing, plus a fair amount of weight reduction (but still has A/C and full interior).

My fiancee's completely stock 88 CRX Si is only a little bit slower than the SVX, and part of its disadvantage is that it needs a new clutch.

Now, a 5-speed SVX might be able to beat my CRX to 60mph, and it'd be interesting to go against one at the track. Heck, since I've gotten the ECUTune stage 1 chip installed in my SVX, it might do a better job of keeping even with the CRX now.

Granted, there are a lot of idiots out there in Hondas, and for me, most other Hondas are nothing but sources for parts for my CRXs. But there are a lot of very nicely done and very fast Hondas out there that will blow away any SVX 0-60. How many street driven SVXs are running 12s? The same goes for handling too, with the 88-89 Civic hatch being the top car in its class for autox. As for high cruising speed, the fastest you can go legally is 75-80, and any Honda (except maybe for the CRX HFs)can do that easily.

Maybe if you guys want respect for the SVX from Honda owners, you should try giving a bit of respect to their cars. If you posted on that board with the same attitude I'm seeing here, I'm not suprised that they put down your cars.
