Shaking car

hmmm

I did some major car cleaning on the weekend and i'm worried that i may have done some damage as when i turned it on this morning it was shaking uncontrollably. It sort of sounded like it would cut out at any min but held on and then when i started driving it was fine. Come to think of it, its the same symptoms that happened a few months ago because a thing was loose. Can prob solve this myself then.....

Jason want2 meet on Harris st this afternoon?

Jason & i have been keeping svx dream alive by driving over the bridge together a few arvos/week- look out for green & black on the bridge at around 5:15

Am i procrastinating at the moment?
Yes

Paulie, i'm on for Sunday weather permitting
Am doing a 1/2 mara in the morning so will be ready for some quality car sitting time in the afternoon. Fingers crossed for a fine day......

moshols shaking problem.....

Don't use water blaster under the bonnet- water gets in everywhere including delicate electricals. Keep WD-40 handy, just in case...

Oh sorry I can't make Sunday- party to get to. D'Oh!!!!

Cheers, Mark.

Is anyone else having trouble posting?

Hi Mark

I think it could have been water blaster under bonnet- all is fine now. If you cross your fingers and pray for rain on Sunday then u might be third time lucky for the Newcastle drive

Mine has run like that for a lot of the time I've had it.
Replaced numerous (expensive) bits to no avail.
Finally had a chat to a guy at Penrith Subaru, who suggested that battery vapours eventually attack the contacts on some of the plug connectors and relays in that area, which affects the fuel injection system.
According to James, water blasters have a similar effect.
I gave all the assorted relays and fuses there a bit of a wiggle and/or removed to give a quick spray of electrical contact cleaner on the pins.
Has basically run Perfect ever since!
Just need to adjust the TPS to get rid of a bit of a flat spot.
Am planning on being at the Newcastle do, (will now read older posts to find out what's happening.)
Arthur.

I will get some electrical contact cleaner and can u please do a demo on Sunday Arthur!?

Today it wouldn't start but i think it was electrical as there was no noise at all. Then when i put it in neutral it was fine and a very speedy drive in, octane boost feels GReeat.

Inhibitor Switch on Transmission!!

If it starts when you put it into Neutral, then I think that the Inhibitor switch on the transmission needs adjustment or cleaning. This switch is linked to the gear lever, and drives the "current gear selected" display in between the tachometer and speedometer.

I had this exact problem a few weeks ago, when the starter would not turn. All of the warning lights turned on with the key in the "on" position (as they should), but when the key was turned to the "start" position, nothing happened.

I then noticed that the light indicating that "Park" had been selected as the current gear was not lit - in fact, none of the PRND321 lights were lit!

As soon as i moved the gear lever forward slightly (without taking it out of Park), the light turned back on - and the starter turned when I turned the key!!

Obviously, if the inhibitor switch is not adjusted properly, then the TCU may think that the transmission is not in Park, even when it is, and not allow the starter to turn. (remember that the starter will only turn if the transmission is in P or N).

In my case, sometimes if I move the gear lever back, while it is in Park, then the "P" light will turn off. It seems that my inhibitor switch may need some adjustment!

Jason.

By the way, if you are getting some contact cleaner, the best one in my opinion is Electrolube EML. It works much better than other brands that I have used.
