I like the STi except for the obnoxious wing, that's the one thing I'm not a fan of.

The STi is just Subaru's hotrodded version of the WRX. i.e. Larger hood scoop, giant spoiler 6-speed manual, racing seats and 300HP turbo charged 2.5L boxer 4

I love subaru's engineering and performance advantages, but the styling is terrible.

PS- green_eyed_lady, there are probably 5 Subaru dealers within 30 miles of you. Just because there isn't a dealer in Beaver County, doesnt mean they're extremely popular around here. I know over here in Butler county it seems like subarus make up 50% of the cars on the road.

Lwin, you wouldn't own a L.L. Bean with the 2-tone leather and twin sunroofs? I'd drive one of them, even if it was a wagon.

There is a Justy van around the corner from me which is appealing an a strange sort of way. I have also liked the Vivio.

A Justy van???

I mean, I know that the Justy (rebadged Suzuki) is still on sale for whatever reason in Europe. But I didn't know they labeled a van as a Justy.

The same model and colour as yours (maybe a little darker) but with no rear windows or seats.

Okay, so is it just a regular Justy with a cargo floor where the rear seats should go, or is it a bigger, more 'vannish' version?

I would have to say
"Call me an SVX snob"

The new Subys are ok...but they are starting to blend in with other cars to much for my frugal affection.

The SVX is a car in a league of very few cars that still stand out even today, let alone when they came out.

The new subys have awesome engineering...(just have to plan on throwing the 2.5T in the SVX later if no good turbo setup is made ....but the styling has suffered, yet you still can tell its a Suby on the road.

Ok... I'll take your word for it... I don't really know what that means. I'm not saying the scoop thing doesn't serve a purpose... just that I don't really care for the way it looks.

I also LOVE the 1998 Legacy GT.... Why??? Because it looks like the old B4 Liberty that is buzzing around my home town in Australia!!! Hehe

My friend's dad owned a performance company a few years ago and he had a 1997 Legacy GT (pretty much the same as a 1998)... It was silver and was modded to the tune of nearly 500WHP!!!! It was so insane he could dump the clutch and just do AWD burnouts all day!!! (yes there was a dog box in it)... I saw it once and fell in love... It had a fully built COBB engine with a Twin Turbo kit on it... The turbos sounded like the one on the ESX WRX Dragcar!!! Insane!!! Would run the quartermile in the high 10's!!!!

In a word, HELL YES!. Like most everyone here already knows, I'm "Subarus Little *****", as opposed to the "SVX Snob" The fact that own 3 completely different Subarus is proof in itself. Starting with the post-round headlight Subarus, I'm pretty much a fan of them all, I really can't think of one that I don't like, or woudn't mind owning in one flavor or another.

The way they look

Has never been a biggie with me (except for the SVX) I've been driving Subies for about 20 years now. My first was a 79 DL that was a couple of years old. It wasn't pretty but the engineering is what sold me. 4WD for that little at the time was astounding! I'd still be driving it if someone hadn't hit me head on at 40 MPH. I'm still alive and well and he will never walk again... That has to tell you something about the safety of the cars. Looks? Almost all Subaru’s were made for, what they call here, a niche market. And if you have a niche you should scratch it… (Abbot and Costello fans out there…?) Natch!
