WRX sighting

A friend of mine who still lives in VT says that every Impreza he sees these days is a WRX. Meanwhile, here in American-car land, I've only actually seen two WRXs on the road (besides the one with MFR plates that I've been seeing since December - Automobile magazine was testing it, I believe).

One of those two was Monday night. I was heading home from the offiec at about 10:30, sitting at a stoplight. A car pulled up next to me, and I heard the driver say 'hey, nice car.'

I said 'thanks,' noticed he was driving an Impreza, and said, 'you, too!'

The light turned green and he nailed it. I had little trouble staying pretty close to him. But I did notice his Impreza was lacking the WRX badge - actually, it had no badges of any kind.

We were next to eachother again, so I asked him if it was an RS or a WRX. It was a WRX, he said, but he had stripped off every badge himself.

I'd have kind of a hard time doing that to a brand-new car. I don't want to advertise the car with a window banner or gaudy vinyl stickers, but manufacturer badges are usually tasteful.

Anyway, we talked a bit about Subarus, how he liked his WRX, and then hit the freeway.

Yes, I could have left him far behind. But I didn't. Memories of that Integra are still fresh in my head.

I saw a WRX......

going towards Rockford on the way back from the MWM. It was dark blue. I am just not impressed with looks of the WRX. Plus the interior in the front is just too cramped for me. To each is own i guess.....
