One quick and easy way to check this is to unplug one of the hoses and start the car. This will prove the direction of the fluid.
Don't run the car for long and don't forget to put the hose back on. Actually I would like someone to verify this for me. I'm not sure who replaced my tranny (before I got the car) but maybe they messed up the hoses (very likely)

The hose that goes to the passenger side of the radiator is the inlet (from trans) and the drivers side is the outlet (to trans) I have had my coolers hooked up this way for the last two years.
Here is a diagram.

Which line was the campaign filter tied into? The passenger or the driver's side of the cooler?
when I hooked up my cooler, I used the run engine for 5 second method to see which line was pressure, I just can't remember now. I'd have to go and look which line the filter is attached to. Doug

binding...
Ca$h,
If all else fails, it could be the duy C solinoid....fixed the binding problem I had.... It is located at the ass end of the tranny....you do not have to pull the tranny to change it. I believe the part is about 85 bucks from subaruparts.com. Subaru part#: 31942AA090

I meant to ask what side of the stock tranny cooler does the campaign filter go on. I know what side of the car its on. It "should" be on the pressure side to filter out contaminants before they get to the cooler. Just wondering out loud, I wonder if any lines are run in reverse with the filter after the cooler perhaps explaining why some trannies die so young and others don't... Doug
