New wheels photoshoot! Azev 17x8's

Just got some rims and tires mounted on my '92 SVX today, which meant I HAD to do some sort of shoot before the day was through. It was getting late before I got around to it however, so luckily there is this cool garage literally a block from my house that happened to be lit up nicely for a shoot.

After I positioned it the way i wanted I fired off my strobes at a few different angles, spent a lil while in cs4 combining and tweaking, and viola! I'm liking the look... www.stanceworks.com here I come!

Azev 17x8's - Sumitomo 205/40/17... now its time for a cupkit to curtail that nasty fender gap!

Thanks man! I'm really diggin the euro look on our japanese cars... wide, far offset wheels, on skinny stretched tires.

If you search any vdub, bmw, or audi forum you'll get some excellent ideas for wheel and tire choices of this look. Actually I included a link to stanceworks, which is all about those sort of things. Have fun man! Let us know what you come up with!

Yea man, nice picture, and nice SVX. The wheels are not really my personal flavor, but they do match the car very very well. They make me think of a more modern version of the wheels that were on the prototype SVX: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=50988 (Post 5 and down show them pretty well.)

Re: New wheels photoshoot! Azev 17x8's

Ummm... What? I'm not getting it. What were you trying to do with this look? You've actually added wheel gap by going to a smaller overall tire, to the point that the wheel doesn't even look very big. If you're trying to go for a "stanced" look, you haven't even got the idea of what the whole stance thing is all about. And if you post this on StanceWorks you're going to be laughed out the door.

To clear some things up:

1. Stance is all about the way your car sits. It's height and wheel gap, how close to the ground you sit, the rake angle, etc. To get what would be called a proper stance you need to lower the car. In stock form the SVX sucks for stance, it has 2-3 fingers of gap in the front, non in the rear, and a front lip nowhere near the ground.

2. Stretched tires are meant to do one thing when it comes to stance: Let you run the widest wheel and lowest offset possible. You want the wheel to be in line (flush) with the car's body panels and have the tire sidewalls bend inward to still remain inside the fender.

3. Smaller than stock tires (diameter) are meant to allow you to lower the car. If you go to a tire 1" smaller than stock, the car automatically drops 1/2", but allows you to lower the body of the car even more due to more wheel well clearance.

I've always said that you can do whatever you want to your own car. If it makes you happy then go for it. But in this case I think you've gone a few steps in the wrong direction. (or at least a very confusing one)
