Importing SVX From US under 15 years old

Hello

Any one here have any exp. with importing an SVX from the US. Where you required to change the bumpers or anything to meet Canadian Federal requirements?

Thanks

Max

Your starting point is riv.ca. You'll need to hardwire the fog lights as running lights and you'll need a child restraint kit. That't it for compliance.

PM me with any questions.

Some places may also insist your speedometer read in kms (the larger numbers)

that would kind of suck actually, i would want to import a car to read in mph..
but if it's what you need to own the car..i guess you wouldn't have much choice...

We've been able to get away with the speedometer issue so far here.

IIRC, once a car is 13 years old, there are NO requirements on what a car needs to be compliant.

And there are no restrictions on bringing an SVX to Canada.

When I imported my XT6 I just had to put stickers in km/hr on the speedo for the certification to import ... I took them off after that and never had a problem ...

My 2 SVXi are US imports - with MPH clusters - although one of them had a pesky sticker that said "MILES PER HOUR" on top of the panel which I quickly removed.

Funny enough story - my stepmom had to borrow my car a few years back and drove home from work. When she got back she was like "Wow, I've never made it home that fast before." I asked her how fast she was going and she said only about 60km/h...of course, she was going 100 km/h in the city without realizing it. She was pretty embarrassed by that one.

Max - why the need to import one? There are usually many SVXi for sale in the area that are well kept. My 1992 Ebony USDM For Sale below being one of those examples
